Gail's Baby and Triangle of Love
claudio_carvalho21 November 2014
Gail enters in Lucas' office and tells that she is leaving Trinity with Caleb. Lucas replies that it is not easy to get rid off him and Gail finds that she is pregnant of Lucas. During the ultrasound, she realizes that her baby is an evil monster. Meanwhile, Dr. Billy Peele and Selena seem to be in love with each other and the doctor invites Selena to go with him to Uganda to get rid off Lucas. However Selena does not appear in the airport and Billy calls off his assignment to stay with her. Lucas is still sexually interested in Selena and puts her under a deadly spell. When Billy goes to Lucas' office to ask him to break the spell, Lucas asks him to kiss his ring as a proof of obedience to him. But Dr. Peele leaves his office and returns to the hospital. Will Selena survive?

"Triangle" is a creepy episode of the "American Gothic" divided in two parts: Gail's pregnancy is a sort of rip-off "Rosemary's Baby" and Selena's illness recalls those voodoo movies. The evil power of Lucas seems to be increasing, or at least is now more explicit. Dr. Billy Peele has a behavior very different from Dr. Matt Crower that was vulnerable due to his alcoholic past. Billy really faces Lucas as he deserves. My vote is eight.

Gail is pregnant and Dr Peale plans to leave Trinity with Selena
Tweekums1 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
As this episode opens Gail marches into Sheriff Buck's office and announces that not only does she intend to leave him but she intends to leave Trinity and take Caleb with her. He states that leaving him won't be easy. Moments later she collapses in pain and is rushed to hospital. It emerges that she is pregnant with Lucas's child; something that horrifies her. She attempts to leave town but is confronted by a vision of Lucas that stops her progress. Back in town she is so concerned that she contemplates suicide. Later Merlyn comes to her and offers words of comfort. While this is going on Dr Peale plans to leave Trinity with Selena; inevitably Lucas makes things difficult.

This was a pretty solid episode with some distinctly creepy moments; most obviously the scene where Gail sees the ultrasound of her baby and it turns to stare at her in a menacing fashion. The 'illness' inflicted on Selena was quite disturbing too… given that we are so close to the end of the series it seemed quite possible that a major character could be killed off. Dr Peale hasn't been in the series for long but his character is developing nicely; it was fun seeing him stand up to Lucas. The cast did a solid job; Gary Cole is as menacing as ever as Lucas Buck; Paige Turco does a fine job portraying Gail's disturbed state after learning she is pregnant, Brenda Bakke is delightfully ambiguous as Selena and John Mese is solid as Dr Peale. Overall another impressive episode with good character development and some disturbing moments.
