Warning: Spoilers
The second series opens with a spectacular explosion.

A conglomerate is being attacked by an African revolutionary group.

Spikings is surprised that so far that no demands have been made yet.

Meanwhile Dempsey and Makepeace are bickering. Especially when they were on to the baddies but they got away as neither of them had the keys to their car.

Dempsey wants to go back to New York. Makepeace has a hunch that the corporation itself might be behind the attacks. To make a quick profit as their shares have gone down.

It seems the humour and the bickering might be the influence of the American series Moonlighting that launched on US television. Makepeace's hunch reflects the influence of corporate culture on the media. Stocks and shares were seen as sexy.

Maybe it would have been better to keep things more real world. That the African revolutionary group were after corporate interests that were investing in apartheid South Africa.

There was a lot of camp when the baddie tries to escape in a chauffeur driven Rolls Royce with an abducted Makepeace inside. Did the chauffeur sign up to this with the baddie? Just how much fuel that car would had gone through if it had to be chased all over London!

An average episode with the bickering duo tackling some African revolutionaries responsible of blowing up a petrol station and spiking cough syrup with strychnine, however as they delve deeper in the case, or at least Makepeace does, as Dempsey decides to head back to New York, there's a twist in the tale. Chemistry between the two leads has increased. Dempsey goes Evel Knieval on a bike at the end.
