"Erm, I didn't quite catch that!"

Warning: Spoilers
Upton, Bingham and Dick are travelling by train to London, fresh from a medical conference in Edinburgh, when Dick learns that his Uncle James has died, leaving him £500,000 the richer. He goes berserk, pulling the communication cord and leading the passengers on a wild drunken orgy.

On arrival, they are arrested and taken to the nearest police station, where they claim to be electricians. Bingham, alas, gives the game away, and soon a furious Loftus is on the scene, attempting to prove their identities...

It would be difficult to believe that this isn't one of Geoffrey Davies' favourite episodes. His euphoria over his good fortune, and subsequent arrogance in the face of his arrest, are wonderfully conveyed. His plea to the Board of Govenors to show mercy to the others is also unexpectedly touching. 'Maigret' himself, Rupert Davies, appears as 'Inspector Barker'. 'Are You Being Served''s Harold Bennett is the senile 'Mr.Reeves', a role he would reprise in 'Doctor On The Go'. The one black note here is the throwaway reference to a serial rapist being at large.

Funniest moment - Dick, Upton and Bingham getting off the train half naked, and attempting to look inconspicuous!
