The premise of this episode is interesting at first glance, when we learn that Potsie is failing anatomy on one hand, yet is intimidated by the professor, played smugly by Allan Rich. Right off the bat, I was skeptical when a show centers on Potsie and has the uninteresting Lori Beth, who has a few too many scenes; she actually calls Richie "sizzle lips" in class. During this segment, the Fonz wears out his boots by using them to help brake his cycle, and a Mr. Rudy, on the advice of Marion, delivers Fonzie pairs of new boots in his office, the men's room; some of the boots he tries on could pass for a burlesque club. Richie has Fonzie's ear, and asks him to help out poor Potsie, who's about to quit college, and the Fonz agrees, and tells Potsie that "learning is cool". Even though the Fonz is cooler than Richie's crew, including Malph, it's cool(pun intended)that he usually goes out of his way to help them. This is where this episode goes downhill and gets corny, as Potsie has learned from the Fonz and is humming to himself during the test, which he gets an excellent grade. The professor refuses to accept his test results, much to the class' chagrin. This next scene is where the episode borders on the sublime and made me embarrassed for all involved. The Fonz tells the professor that Potsie will sing the test results in a song called "pump your blood", and will prove that he didn't cheat. In a moment of complete nerdiness, Potsie proceeds to sing to the entire class and the professor, describing the heart's anatomy, while singing, "pa pump pa pump, pumps your blood". I'm not sure how, but Richie ends up playing a kazoo, as the rest of the class sings along with Potsie until the merciful end. I have to imagine the folks involved look back at that moment in embarrassment, as it is slightly painful to watch. This isn't a bad episode, but the latter half is so corny that I would be hesitant to recommend.
