Finally...a Cohen who knows how to throw down.
Jerique6 April 2010
Ryan becomes a bigger part of the family and has to make a formal debut into Newport society at the annual débutant ball. Seth still pines for Summer, while she's lost in lust for Ryan. Marissa saves them Ryan for the newcomer, Anna Stern (Samaire Armstrong) from Pittsburgh.

Kirsten learns from Sandy about Jimmy's crimes and Sandy avoids the entire community. Luke is beginning to be overwhelmed about Ryan. It's got a lot more chuckles than expected, but more so than anything, this is a dramatically emotional episode and one not very great for Jimmy.

It's fun to see Luke and Ryan bicker and to see Marissa's antics to keep Ryan away from Summer, but at the same time to Seth try his damnedest to develop nothing with her. I love to watch Sandy and Kirsten in the episode too. Peter has such great timing and delivery.

The One With The Debut...

Warning: Spoilers
I enjoyed this episode. I didn't love it, but I really liked it. I like the character of Anna, so when she is introduced, that is entertaining.

In this episode, everyone is getting ready for the annual Cotillion Ball, where Ryan is still pursuing Marissa, and they decide to be partners. But a jealous Luke continues to try and break them up. Meanwhile, Seth meets Anna, a new girl in town, and they are paired up. Surprisingly, Summer is jealous of this. Stuff goes down at the Ball, including Marissa's Dad getting beat up.

First appearance of: Anna Stern.

Best part of the episode: When Summer gets jealous of Seth and Anna.

Overall, I give this episode an 8 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Awesome.

A great episode with a lot of heart and even more drama! (and sarcasm)

Warning: Spoilers
Most of the story of this episode is based around the Cotillion, the annual debutante ball where Newport's most accomplished young women make their debut into 'society'. The episode begins with the Cohens announcing to Ryan that they have taken guardianship of him and that he will now be part of their family. As a 'welcome to the family' gift, they buy him a tuxedo for Cotillion. And wouldn't you know, Summer comes around and decides Ryan will be her date to Cotillion. This, just a week after she called him a trash nobody. At the ball, Jimmy is confronted by Greg Fischer, who really, really wants his money. Jimmy confesses that he has lost all of the money. Greg freaks out and punches Jimmy, knocking him to the floor.

In this episode Newport finds out about the actions of Jimmy Cooper, Ryand and Marissa try being friends and Seth starts liking the new girl in town.

The Debut (#1.4)

Warning: Spoilers
Ryan now becomes officially part of the Cohen family. It is also time for Cotillion Ball and everyone is getting ready. But before it comes there are so many fights and most of our main characters don't want to go, at the end they show up there. And it ends up with a fight involving Jimmy.

I must say this episode was pretty boring. Even though there are all those fights for the most part they are very short and predictable. That whole debutant ball is annoying, amazing that people still do things like that. Too much Ryan and Marissa in their dramatic getting togethers with awful acting. One knows that Seth will end up with his date as she seems to be just like him only female.
