Richard Schaal and daughter Wendy

"Fish's Job" again finds our 'tired old cop' depressed about his impending retirement, yearning to find someplace else to go. He applies for a security position at the 60 million dollar Mercantile Center, bringing home a spiffy new uniform. Bernice worries that his absence might have a negative effect on the future of the group home. Meanwhile, Mike has a pretty new girlfriend, Peggy Dunnagan (Wendy Schaal), who delights in defying her disapproving father by continuing to date the budding delinquent. When Ed Dunnagan (Richard Schaal) shows up looking for his daughter, wondering if the place is a 'hippie commune,' he's told it's a group home, concluding they're all a bunch of groupies! Richard Schaal ("The Hollywood Knights") was then married to RHODA's Valerie Harper (from 1964-1978), while his beautiful real-life daughter Wendy was born during his first marriage. I first saw Wendy on WELCOME BACK KOTTER, hoping to ask Barbarino out to the Sadie Hawkins dance, as did another pretty newcomer, Dinah Manoff. By the 80s Wendy became a one season regular on FANTASY ISLAND, and still provides one of the voices on American Dad.
