All flash, no photo

I am officially stealing "all flash, no photo" that's just awesome. Honestly enjoyed the dynamic of this episode, the villain's and heroes being forced to play nice trope. Vala's puzzle skills are unmatched.

The Journey to the Sangrail
claudio_carvalho28 February 2022
In the SGC, Daniel is researching the possible location of Merlin's weapon in the middle of the night. Out of the blue, Vala has a dream and wakes up with the necessary information to find the planet where it is. The SG-1 travels to a medieval village and learns from the local librarian Orsic that Ba'al was there three days ago. The team learns also that to reach the Sangrail, they need to use five virtues. Soon the Ori's army arrives and they flee with Orsic, who knows where the Sangrail is. Their travel has obstacles and they use the virtues to proceed. They also find Ba'al trapped in a force field along their journey and bring him with them. When they reach a cave, they find that Orsic is not who he say he is.

"The Quest: Part 1" is one of the best late episodes of "Stargate SG-1". The journey of the group is full of action and highly entertaining. The dangerous Ba'al and Adria working with the SG-1 will certainly do not have a good conclusion. My vote is eight.

Stargate + The Last Crusade, an excellent recipe

Warning: Spoilers
Wow, this is one good episode. Two, if you add its second part. It's got humour, it's got characters, it's got lots and lots of action and "magic" (ie, incomprehensible technology), and it should mark a turning-point in the Ori arc since Merlin's weapon FINALLY becomes more than a myth.

The plot line is rather standard: to find Merlin's weapon, SG1 have to complete a "quest" (boy, the Asgaard and the Ancients sure are fond of those!) and display five virtues such as those expected of the Knights of the Round Table. Besides the fact that it is clearly inspired by one of my favourite movies ever, the riddles are quite interesting and captivating (quite consistently, Carter solves the ones that are based on technology while Daniel deals with the philosophical ones.) Moreover, on the way SG1 pick up a few unlikely companions who definitely add some spice to the mix. Funny how I'm rapidly growing to hate Adria, while Ba'al who used to be THE super-villain, has become so pathetic that he now provides comic relief. He's grown on the series, so to say.

So even though there have been way too many useless "quests" recently, this one is really too good to pass, and it ends on a rather unexpected but amusing note (honestly: WHO really thought there wouldn't be a dragon?!)

Stargate SG-1 and the Last Crusade
fcabanski11 October 2015
Warning: Spoilers
This is the discovery side of Stargate at its best. They're searching for something important. They face challenges reminiscent of those faced by Indy in "Indiana Jones and the Holy Grail". SG-1, Ba'al and Adria temporarily join forces, in a way that makes sense.

The episode ends in spectacular fashion, with the team and their companions facing a dragon. Nobody thought the dragon in the prophecy was literally a dragon.

Wow. There it is flying up from the depths.

One minor point is that SG-1 doesn't take action after Daniel discovers Adria is without her powers. Earlier, they tried to shoot her. But they thought her powers protected her. Once Daniel figures out only her pendant protected her, they could at least try tossing her to her death. After all, she's the leader of an invasion force that threatens the entire galaxy. Once out of the cave, she will have her god-like powers. She'll kill them.

I'd have at least thrown her off the edge of the cliff in the hopes it would kill her.

Overall this is a good episode. It's an exciting quest square in the middle of the Ori story.

Camelot & Merlin; Right!
Easygoer1013 August 2020
The only thing missing are the Marx Brothers. This is bad as it gets. The final 2 seasons (which never should have been made), there is a constant theme: The faster Michael Shanks ("Dr. Jackson") speaks, the goofier the story. Baal & Vala are simply comedic foils. Too bad. Really terrible. Watch SGA instead.
