"Looking for the End of the Rainbow"
wes-connors12 August 2011
At the Blue Whale, Vicki (Alexandra Moltke) asks Burke (Mitchell Ryan) if his investigations of the Collins family have uncovered any facts about her origin. Showing an increased romantic interest in her, Burke invites Vicki to his hotel room for dinner. At Collinwood, Joe (Joel Crothers) wakes up with a hangover. Carolyn (Nancy Barrett) makes coffee and comforts him by explaining how "great grandfather" Jeremiah Collins was a notorious drunk. Neither Jeremiah nor Edward Collins seem to fit this description. They share a romantic moment, but Joe is perturbed by Carolyn's continued fascination with Burke...

In case you missed this info in a previous episode...

Warning: Spoilers
Victoria tells Burke of the circumstances which brought her to Collinwood, info repeated in conversations with Elizabeth in the past few weeks. It's a conversation that includes Burke ordering dinner (two steaks, rare, salad, etc.), suggesting dessert, and repeating his advice about her leaving Collinwood, utilizing different phrases, but basically saying the same thing. Joe interrupts them to pay his bar bill from the previous episode after waking up at Collinwood with a hangover and getting a bit of Collins family history by Carolyn, not the way I'd want to deal with that feeling. Not horrible, but not really interesting and certainly unnecessary.

Nothing much to see here

Warning: Spoilers
Episode 34 is another below-par instalment of DARK SHADOWS. The main plots are kept bubbling away in the background while secondary characters are explored. This time, Victoria and Burke engage in some bonding, while Joe continues to be cautious of girlfriend Carolyn's obsession with Burke. Nothing much happens.
