This is a movie about the first planned integrated community in America, Sunnyhills in Milpitas. A history I wasn't aware of. Nikita Khrushchev visited it in the late '50s, right around the time of the "Kitchen Debate".
Also some interesting commentary about the police; from the pictures I saw, they were all-white, but the chief was pretty progressive and actually told some racist homeowner that he wasn't welcome there and should probably move out.
It started when the Ford plant moved from Richmond to Milpitas and the workers' families needed a place to stay. The black workers could only work in the paint department. They had a pic of that too, no respirators or even masks, and they got one pair of gloves they had to wear all week.
If you get a chance, you should see it.
