Warning: Spoilers
If the first episode had the characters as broad cyphers.

The second gives more depth to a few of them. There is even broad comedy courtesy of Stephen Merchant's character, Gregory.

He is an hapless solicitor who was caught by the police with a prostitute in his car. While getting away he crashed into a police car.

Christopher Walken's character Frank gives some background as to how he ended up in Bristol. He also gets his grandson to have a house party so he could be popular with girls at school. Just to make sure he has a wow moment. Frank cajoles Lady Gabriella to make a cameo appearance.

Even Lady Gabriella becomes a more rounded character here as her messy romantic life is highlighted.

There is even a Christopher Walken dancing moment which leads to an important plot development as some of them find a suitcase full of money.

While the first episode felt too long. This was nicely judged. It also introduces another baddie, this one has teeth.

Episode #1.2

Warning: Spoilers
A step up from episode one. That makes it sound like the first episode was meh and this was better but the first episode was amazing and this second one was truly spectacular. The jokes were absolute genius, the plot was able to go from light comedy, the dark humour, to essentially horror, really quite fast without it feeling forced or unnatural. Plot lines you think they'll leave unresolved till a future episode are resolved and it is most satisfying. Others will continue. What I love is how accidentally interconnected the lives of all the characters have become. I am so glad we're getting 12 episodes of this, rather than the BBC's usual 6. This is a brilliant TV show. I cannot wait for more.

Trailblazing

This program is so much more than the some of its parts. It's deceptively profound, ironic as we have a band of damaged and criminal characters. Living in Bristol it's a sheer joy to see and to hear the local accent. It is hilarious, truly clever and very funny. A simple tale, they make the best but it's way deeper than that. Who hasn't regretted a behaviour?,made a mistake?begun to question themselves? And that's it's genius. We all need to be authentic. Our characters have unraveled because they have to perform in some way. There are real current serious issues we all deal with because we are human pressure at work, social status, us in the bigger world. That inner battle to seek approval and cope leads us to places where we have to cope with concequences. All our characters are essential good people and are superbly written and acted. There is also a tense thrilleresque plot worthy of anyones time and Claes Bang oozes menace. I can't recommend this series enough, congratulations to all,you never know,it might change you too.

Great TV

Second episode which we watched early via iPlayer, and it is continuing to be that wonderful mix of comedy, crime, drama, love and entertainment. I am loving this, and have hight hopes it continues Tombe as good. Some excellent acting from the likes of Rhianne Barreto, Gamba Cole and Eleanor Tomlinson. Stephen Merchant's writing and directing is as good as his acting, a very wonderful Bristol character. This is a must watch programme.

Episode 2

Warning: Spoilers
I still like the show but I feel like a lot of the magic from the first episode got lost. I don't want to see these characters just go through the same trials and tribulations of anyone on TV. They're in a different situation and thus should experience different situations.
