Nailed the cliffhangers

Can't believe how good this show is. I was expecting it to be a guilty pleasure. It's way more than that. This show is honestly what I look forward to every week. I love it, and genuinely can't believe how good TV shows became. Did the writers benefit from the lockdowns? I can't get over how good the execution is!

The Origin of Superman Warning: Spoilers
Every past Superman series I have seen always starts with Clark Kent getting a job at the Daily Planet, meeting Lois Lane, and putting on the suit for the first time to become Superman. But because this series starts with Lois & Clark already married, and with kids, we didn't really get to see the origin/birth of the newest version of Superman, until now. I thought the first half of this episode was great. We got to see more details of Lois & Clark's past, like working on their first story together. However, it took a dark turn when it was revealed that it was Morgan Edge looking through Clark's memories to find the best way to blackmail him into joining the takeover of earth.

So far, I think this is the best episode of the series I've seen, and after the way this episode ended, I think they are about to get even better.

The plot slows down as some much appreciated flashbacks take place, superb writing and acting - An unforgettable Superman episode
Holt34424 June 2021
This week's episode is directed by the actor turned director, Gregory Smith. He have directed multiple of Arrowverse shows and it shows that he's familiar with it, the direction and visual storytelling is top notch. I'll say the same to the writing.

Superman and Lois continues to deliver superb episode after episode. A Brief Reminiscence In-Between Cataclysmi... continues where last week's episode left off, with Superman weak at the Fortress of Solitude and Morgan Edge in his own fortress. But then unexpectedly, most of the episode is told in flashbacks of Clark's first two years in Metropolis up to his marriage with Lois. It's an incredible episode that stays true to the comic book, and I have to say the second half which were in the present, was suspenseful and truly fantastic. This episode impressed me a lot and it was mostly because of how unexpected it was. 40 minutes of pure superb television.

The performances of Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch were some of the highlights of the episode and of the entire TV Series, with some strong acting and seeing them interact with each other in the first two years was nice to see after the previous episode, it was beautifully told and filled with hope. In Supergirl and it's various of crossovers, I haven't really thought that these two actors would do these characters justice but when this show came out my mind was changed and now with this episode, it's totally changed. These portrayals of Clark Kent/Superman and Lois Lane, will be remembered.

On the technical side, the episode looked stunning and cinematography was great. Even the visual effects was amazing and it was mostly in the way it was shot, the director knew exactly what he was doing.

Warning: Spoilers
Holyyyyyyyy!!!!! This show keeps on getting better and better. We get a deep look into Superman and Lois past and how they met, and how Clark became Superman. The cinematography, acting, cgi, fights, and character development is absolutely perfect. We also get a deep look into Morgan Edge as a villain. The confrontations between Edge and Clark were great. And the Ending ohhhhh the ending. Was perfect Superman becoming bad after not wanting to is perfect. Morgan Edge has so far won and done the hard part. Like the famous words of Terry Silver "Now the real pain begins." We also see John Diggle in the promo I can't wait for episode 12, we might be seeing Green Lantern. Overall 9.8/10 episode! Very great.

GENIUS
Eggoreluckadman23 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As everyone has stated genius episode. You think it's' a traditional flashback episode that might not further the plot, but nope it's a 2 in 1 traditional flashback episode AND it furthers the plot. Also, I love the acting from everyone, but especially Tyler and Bitsie; they are currently the definitive Superman and Lois!

A love letter to superman
axelr-7200124 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Complement everything raised in the pilot episode, show us small tributes to Superman in details as beautiful as the phone booth

The origin of Superman honoring simple and at the same time so endearing things, they do not leave aside what happens with the plot of the last episode, the end although I can not tell it here, is shocking.

Bait and Switch with a Twist?
lima-223 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Wait what? The first half was a re-cap.of all four seasons of Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, even with a baby at the end. With a slight twist. Twins! We knew that was coming.

And the switch? Morgan Edge reading Clark's past? Didn't see that coming. WOW! Great way to weave that into the story line. As another reviewer mentioned, maybe Clark did give up too soon. Or did he? I wonder what secret plan he has to defeat Edge, save his family, and the world.

I can't help but remember the ending of Superman II, and the look on Christopher Reeve's face when he stepped out of the chamber in the Fortress, that supposedly took away his powers forever. That was a true switch! But, got to wait three weeks to find out.

Great homage episode to past iterations of the character.

Like watching a C movie
scarlettyforest2 July 2021
I can see why people were excited over this episode. The origin story stuff was cute, and there were twists which always seem to get everyone excited. But. I put it to you, that this was objectively, bad--or, only good in the sense that when you watch a B/C movie, you might think, "oh that wasn't so bad".

Don't get me wrong, elements here were good. Cinematography? Mostly great. They're rocking the hell out of that DXL2 camera, and the anamorphic lenses? Also not cheap, looks nice. But ultimately, the writing is plain bad in the sense that, if this was a comic book, no one would be reading it. Because from previous episodes, giving Superman a discount brother in *deep sigh* Morgan Edge, is terribly stupid.

Also: Steel, Eradicator, and a son of Superman? Just clicked that they're doing Reign of the Supermen. Only, everyone's just a discounted version (excluding perhaps, Steel, who has piqued my interest a little--but even then, fridging Lois for his origin? So lame). Removing/doing dirty to Conner Kent like that is such a shame. Titans isn't without its faults, but at least they're doing that character justice.

So Nazi's are the biggest problem Metropolis has? Seriously?
vaughanstarr23 June 2021
This episode...Lois complains about how the city needs someone to tackle the real issues the city has. What are these profound problems she cites? Gang violence? No. Drugs? No again. Drum roll please, 'And what is the correct answer Alex?' That's right, it's Nazi's painting lightening bolts on walls for 200! A alien flying around in tights made for him by his mommy is far more believable a notion!

I am still shocked
GomezAddams66623 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This series has passed all my wildest expectations, I didn't think I would be seeing the fall of the House of El this soon.

But I also understand Clark had to defend his family, it is the impossible choice a man has to make.

Which is why this show is so great, as the Man of Tomorrow will always be a man, a relatable man.

Love it

Warning: Spoilers
I absolutely love this show and I love whats going on. This episode was amazing the only thing I would say is that kind of feel like Superman gave up a little too easy. I know hes got his family to think about but he got his ass kicked a little too quick for me.

Amazing

Whoever the writers are for this need to take over the Arrowverse. This is everything we had hoped it would be. If only Arrow was still on the air because the crossovers would be AMAZING.

Best show at CW right now
rabbit_mini26 June 2021
I am a hater for flashback episode because often they are too boring and bring nothing to the story. But these missing/untold stories of the beginning of Superman was exactly what this show needed, and I am enjoying evert minute of it. Let alone it actually contributes to what is potentially coming! Excited1.

Warning: Spoilers
I really did like to see the origin of how Clark mastered his power and I like that the episode could have been a great and scary episode to end to the season to make me more excited for the 4 episode after to be a start of season 2 of superman becoming evil.

Great way to go on break!
thetypingavocado23 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I've really grown to love this show. Never thought I would say this for a CW show... The flashbacks actually had purpose, and a sense of mystery... which furthers the plot. And hey, Kyle admits he was wrong, and Jordan gets the girl, so nice way to close those plot points. And Morgan Edge has actually grown to be a complex character.

Although the CGI in this episode was a clunky at times, even though the visuals at the beginning were gorgeous.

So overall, great episode (9.3/10)

PS: I hope the show can use this break to clean up on the CGI, to reach the quality of the first 3 episodes... in CGI.

The Origins of Superman.
wetmars3 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I won't explain the whole plot since it was just a flashback. Edge went into his brother's memory and threatens to tell the world that he has a family. Edge ceases communication with his "father", and a god damn fight happens. Edge leaves him behind expressing that he shouldn't have done it this way. Meanwhile, Lois discusses with Lana and her husband. On the other hand, the brothers are getting along together. Edge comes down to the Kent Farm and tells the group of three that their Uncle will come, the delivery of that line is hilarious. A whole argument/fight happens until Superman comes to make a deal with him. Edge takes him to some hot deserted place to show him his whole backstory. Edge is advised by his father's A. I. to subject Superman to the reclaimed Eradicator eventually becoming a threat to the entire world. What a goddamn ending right there.

Thoughts?

This is top-tier Superman content. It's like a true love letter exploring this version of Superman's origins if you know what I mean by that. Incredible dialogue, character chemistry, and music. Always love the performances here, and the cinemography. I appreciate the writers wanting to pick a villain that hasn't been explored in live-action. Edge's backstory is phenomenal yet dark. It seems like the two are half-brothers, not brothers.

10/10.

A Brief Reminiscence In-Between Cataclysmic Events
Prismark1018 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
The episode title is a mouthful and it does look like a respite.

An origins story filled with flashbacks since Clark Kent arrived on Earth.

In some ways it segues well with Superman the Movie. It really did need John Williams, Superman theme as Clark arrives in Metropolis and manages to wrangle a job as a reporter. Then turns into Superman with his mother's homemade costume.

There is more context as the memories are manipulated by Morgan Edge. He has his own Fortress in a desert compared to Superman's ice one.

It also again highlights how Edge's destiny has been shaped by the people he has encountered and his experiences.

You do wonder if the flashback episode was needed. It has been explored already in previous Superman films and Man of Steel.

Just gets better
andi-9291525 June 2021
Every episode I watch I keep thinking it can't get much better then the next episode comes along and it does, I would love them to do 2 series of this and then call it a day, so it doesn't go downhill like nearly all the other superhero TV series do, quality over quantity.
