What's with the bad reviews!?
lrsfp20 November 2020
I noticed that when a show has a black lead, the reviewers tend to be really harsh. Check yourselves. And for those commenting on why shows have to be political, they are just writing the current - and very important events happening in our messed up society today - into the stories. The people who are upset about this are the ones who don't want to see the truth. The episode was fine! Perspective of a black cop, yes, that was addressed. Yes they could have dug into some other points but, it was a good episode.

hope this was left over from last season
MiketheWhistle12 November 2020
I suspect that this ep may have been leftover from last season as Luka is still gone and the actual Rodney King riots anniversary is in April and May. Let me say that I hope that is the case as since the ep happen to air on Veteran's Day and there was not offer of respect to our troops it seems rather misplaced.

So if in fact this was a leftover, everything in it is appropriate. But if this ep was not a leftover, then it is highly misplaced by virtue of its ignoring our troops.

And I remember the riots well and went groups now dot he same it truly scares me.

Good episode

Warning: Spoilers
I thought it was a great episode...

I don't care how inaccurate it was of the real life events because when there's episodes of black gangs or Islamic terriorists I don't see much complaining in the comments, but as soon as police look bad we get complaints. People need to wake up and see that everyone has some fault and there's no point just always showing the fault in black people and Muslims, there is fault everywhere and that's what this episode proves.

Very good episode, I think this episode would have taken many Americans into deja vu mode.

Really excellent episode
abbyaprilmom4 April 2021
I thought this episode did a good job of exploring universal themes in a very constrained amount of time. Sons disappointing fathers; fathers disappointing sons; the weight of expectation; racism. Yes, it was heavy, and TV is supposed to help us escape, but it was very well done. The closing was especially powerful, and kudos to the woman reading King's words.

Awful
joaomiguelsilva-684108 December 2020
Since this is a police show, i would have thought they would try to paint both sides on the events that happened earlier this year. Instead, you are pushed an agenda where the cops are bad and the protests are all peaceful with inspiring words all around. As we all know, while we had some peaceful protests, the events earlier this were marked by violence and damage to private properties that had nothing to do with the incident that was behind said "protests". This show could try to focus on what the cops felt while the city was facing a riot, show the fear that many officers feel while said events happen. The show literally sells the "ACAB" motto, even ending with an insult to Hondo. The rest of the episodes dont get better, do yourself a favor and dont even bother watching this season, hopefully they will get the message. We watch these shows to get away from reality for 45 minutes, where the good guys win and the bad guys lose, instead, it feels like your watching a news channel with a leftist agenda. Sad to see, it was one of my favorite shows.

Something to remind you that all is not good
carolynjackson-7167023 June 2021
I thought this episode was well executed. Despite some other reviews stating that this is a leftist agenda episode, it's not. Since the MAGA years even more so than before, it is automatically left-wing, leftist or extreme left, when you just show the truth. Police shows have the responsibility to point out, what is right with the system, but also what is wrong with it.

Way too many white folks don't even know what it means to be a black person in the US. I am white, but I might have a little idea, as my late wife was black. I could see how she was treated differently than me, solely based on her skin color. An episode like this is hard to swallow, but nevertheless enjoyable, if you watch it with an awake mind.

This episode had a chance....but

Warning: Spoilers
Didn't take it There were some good points in the episode but why didn't they take the opportunity to address the fact that the rioting and looting accomplishes nothing but fanning the flames of a volatile racial issue? I am sick of one sided representations of the complicated issues. Done with this show.

Heartbreaking

Warning: Spoilers
When this show first started it was slammed for not being realistic. And now for being too realistic. The show is about a black SWAT officer's experience living and working in LA. And this is what they did tonight. They showed what life is and has been for black men in America through th eyes of 3 generations of men at the ages of 17 - how they still face the same issues now that they faced 40 years ago. I have loved SWAT since it first started, but this moved me to tears. They don't have to show a balanced view, although I think they did when Hicks showed how he has evolved. They never said all cops were bad, they just talked about their experiences. Just because this isn't your real life, it doesn't mean it isn't millions of other people's reality. Thank you to the writers and actors for bringing such an emotive issue to us in such an eyeopening way and cementing this as my favorite show of the year!

Ready to give up on TV
losey_michelle13 November 2020
All the Fall shows so far are so political! I'm so tired of it I'm ready to cancel my subscription again and go back to just watching Netflix and Prime.

They are one-sided too!!

An action packed episode.
rick95252 April 2022
A mix of Mexican Drug King pins, The Black Community rioting (flashback to LA riots in 1991) so plenty of action and bombs. Yet people cannot see past several characters saying how they feel, who don't look like them, so give 1 star. Maybe they are the reason a small focus is on race issues. It would be very boring if every single bad person in the series was Mexican or Black but sadly some people would be happy with that.

Just stop ...
toncincin13 November 2020
It's not enough that people have to deal with the news in a daily basis! Now when we try to escape into a TV show - we get to deal with it as "entertainment." Over it. Stop it if you're going to lose viewers. We'll watch a couple more episodes - but if it continues it's preaching- we're done.

As a white Australian who is not a fan of woke politics I actually found this episode quite touching. It spoke to the on going racism in America. An excellent episode considering the content matter.

Love this episode. To have an episode that show a part the real world in 2020 is good, bringing up real issues in a show like this make it even belter.

Hardest Part About......
diamondaurapayge-0-70505031 January 2021
Hardest Part about watching shows back to back is inconsistencies. Hondo was in the Marines over 30 years ago so the stuff in this episode with him couldn't have happened. This isn't the only show that does this but it's hard to watch and care when they change history to suit the storyline

Love S.W.A.T Hate this episode
phil-837372 June 2021
Woke one sided PC rubbish. The way TV shows have gone on gonna give up on new stuff and just watch the old classics.

I'll try another episode of this but if the rest of the season is the same I'll be ditching it from my watch list.

Disappointed
zakkydoo5 June 2021
I was a huge fan of this show but I won't be watching it again. This has been hijacked by an arrogant man who is more intent on dividing people than creating an enjoyable show to watch. This was a very biased episode and as said I won't be watching it again.

Bandwagon.
Samthesham6731 July 2021
I remember when PC meant either a Police Constable or a computer.

SWAT has jumped on the current woke bandwagon at full speed! Every episode in this season is not just spreading, but overdoing, the one sided message that is being pumped by every TV drama since May 2020. What was a fantastic series has turned into a propaganda machine that is, surprisingly anti police in parts! We know what has been happening in real life, but we watch these shows for a bit of entertaining escapism, not to be preached to!

bad religious picturing
Osama_Azzomor4 August 2021
When swat was questioning the drug dealer he had a normal islamic flag which is exactly the same flag as the Saudi arabian flag and you were calling that flag a jihady symbol !!!?. That is absolutely unacceptable. You don't have the smallest right to throw in a peaceful Islamic sign and frame it as a bad organizations sign. I was watching the show since it came out but now i don't even wanna watch it. That is the absolute worst thing people can do to others. Ruining the reputation of the religion of Islam?? Who are you people to do so.....!

Editing quality is awful
rythmsguitar4625 June 2023
This is solely on how the episode was shot/edited, and not to the content within the episode.

The quality is TERRIBLE, so many fast, unnecessary cuts, unnecessary green screening, using weird/unnecessary shot angles and actors clearly having issues taking queues off of the lack of other actors in the set at the same time. I understand this was right at the beginning of the pandemic, but why not wait it out rather than put out a terrible quality episode? I've been a fan of this show so far, but if this quality continues in this season, I might have to skip it or stop watching all together.

I've see some better short films come out of college students.
