The Whistler had struck again, another young woman falls prey to the Serial killer who has The Police dumfounded.
It's hotting up nicely here, I find this story particularly good, there is a good deal of malice behind it.
The title Devices and desires is perfectly appropriate for this story, as there are plenty of both, particularly the desires, it's hard to keep track of who's carrying on with who.
The serial killer is really unnerving to watch, I don't recall a PD James story having such a horror vibe as this one. That ending was pretty nasty.
Susannah York is always great, I enjoyed her scenes with Marsden.
It's 16/03/2021, and in the real world a young woman had been cruelly murdered, there are many arguments surrounding women's safety, the debate rages on thirty years later on.
Excellent, and harrowing, 8/10.
