Trapped in a Musical, and not the Highschool musical type but the classic Dick Van Dyke type... The concept is amusing, (I tried to write the same premise for a 48hour film project about 8 years ago; this is substantially better...). The comedy is sharp. Some laugh out loud moments. Nice easy viewing. Curious to see where it leads.

Solide tribute to musicals

It reminded me of the old Disney I used to watch, especially Mary Poppins.
I'm actually not fond of musicals, but this is off-beat and I quite like it.
Also, I love Cecily Strong, Armisen and Cumming and I expect to see more of them soon.
Now, I feel like eating some corn pudding...

Serious talent trapped inside a musical universe!

All of the acting, singing and dancing for this series is spot on! It's as if all of the out of work Broadway talent migrated inside a zoom broadcast that is never endingly looped. Alan Cumming shines brighter than I have ever seen him. Cicely and Keegan are brilliantly holding fast inside a nightmare of song filled silliness- while Kristen and Fred are just having a blast.
I hope the rest of the season sounds and feels as delightful as these first two eps!!

What an Entrance

My son, who has extensive theatrical training, said I needed to see this. He wouldn't tell me anything about it. Of course, the title gives some of it away. I know all the Rogers and Hammerstein musicals as well as many others. The take off on Oklahoma, using Schmigadoon instead of the aforementioned state, is sensational. It's like Dorothy saying we're not in Kansas anymore. The plot is fun because the two folks who find they are in an alternative universe are so angry and smug. Perfect foils for the townsfolk. Mostly, however, this show is filled with awesome talent. Creative choreography, wonderful voices, bright costuming, and really clever lyrics which fit right into the entire plot. I don't know if it can be sustained for two seasons, but I was hooked.
If you like Silly Musicals
