People screaming "woke" only see one thing.
romulanspace16 May 2021
I don't care about politics at all. But I had to review this episode because of other whiny people who don't want any current events affecting their perceptions of things. I have a huge amount of respect for law enfocement, and it's obvious The Rookie tries to portray police in a positive light and show the struggles they face. Yet, there are people who hate police, and with just cause. Any time such a person arrives on The Rookie, rabid viewers spew at the mouth and scream, "It's an agenda!" Really, watch the whole episode. I love how they show the transition from soldier to cop.

Officer Katie Barnes is an Actual Gem
SourCandyOrNoCandy5 May 2022
I loved Katie from the very beginning so the end of this episode lowkey pissed me off. I feel like the two new rookies had so much potential to add a lot to the show.

Best parts of the episode?

  • Officer Katie Barnes. Hopefully the writers will bring her back in a few episodes and we can see her and Bradford work together. I really enjoy that duo. Every scene with them made me so happy.

  • Tamara is definitely one of my favourite side characters. "Who's that girl with Officer Zaddy?" I cackledddd at that line.

  • It was so interesting hearing the differences between being in the military and being a police officer. So many crime shows have soldiers transitioning smoothly into police life so this was an interesting change.

  • Man of honour Tim is the best.

  • Silas. I didn't expect him to be a recurring character but I'm loving it. He's becoming more comfortable with everyone else and he's such a great character. "I'm going to fight somebody." "Don't look at me."

Worst part of the episode?

  • Jealous Lucy is quite annoying.

  • I really like Professor Ryan, but I didn't enjoy this particular storyline.

  • It wasn't the most interesting episode we've had.

Yep back to the woke crap BUT...
CzyboutFlix27 August 2021
Just came here to note how disappointed Bizarro World Not Nolan depart so quickly. Lots of comedy left on the table with that departure. :-(

Informative
julialin-3858724 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
As some reviews say that this is rubbish and political, it allows each cop to show who they really are. It was amazing to see a side of Tim using different ways of educating the rookies. It is also really nice seeing Nolan and his son together more and reminding us that he is also a dad outside of someone older becoming a cop. Everyone in this show has layers. And we needed to see the escalation with Fiona. I felt that in the earlier episodes there was definitely a story build up and we reached it. I thought this episode was not only informative but sadly realistic. Shows using their platforms to remind us the reality of the world are only trying to further educate and also remind us that there is hope. And I do believe the show does a good job by showing us that not all cops are bad.

Barnes and Bradford steal the episode!
irishmen698131 August 2022
The only thing I focused on this episode was Bradford and Barnes. The 2 clicked with the similar backgrounds of being a soldier and like Rambo, not being able to turn it off. I feel that this episode trys to explain why some cops play that officer safety cards which I'm not bashing, just trying to understand. This episode made me see that. Most cops are retired, reserve, or active military. I hope they bring back Barnes, she was bad ass and her and Bradford would make this show pretty damn good. Also they can have Barnes work with one of the previous rookies for that total opposite comedy aspect. In a gun fight Barnes would rain supreme against one of them.

The New Rookies
claudio_carvalho29 October 2021
Sgt. Grey is introducing the new rookies Katie Barnes and Larry the Badger in a meeting with the other officers when the clumsy Larry accidentally shots the window and is immediately expelled from the police department. Bradford is assigned as the TO of the former military Katie Barnes and soon he identifies her greatest problem and expects to help her. Chen becomes jealous with the treatment of Tim towards Katie. Meanwhile Henry and Abigail arrive in LA and meet Nolan that is very happy. Professor Fiona Ryan comes to the station and exposes a harassment from a stranger. Nolan offers to protect her, but she refuses. But soon she learns how dangerous her opinions are, irritating the extreme right wing.

"New Blood" is an episode of "The Rookie" with an excellent storyline of Officer Tim Bradford and Katie Barnes. The dialogs of Tim and Katie and later with Chen shows how experienced Tim is. The segment of the racist Professor Fiona Ryan is awful and irritating. The moment when she does not allow the officers to take the camera of her stalker kills her segment. Wesley is also stupid, but a nice character but Fiona should vanish of the show somehow. My vote is seven.

Great Episode

Warning: Spoilers
Was sad about Tim's new boot leaving and Nolan calling his Nissan Titan a Tundra, other than that it was an amazing episode. It always seems like the show isn't long enough because it's so good, I never want it to be over.

Wrong truck
shanespicer5728 October 2021
Nolan switched from Toyota to nissan and yet he still calls his truck a tundra. It's a Nissan Titan. Stop calling vehicles what they aren't they literally have their names on the front and back of the vehicle.

Flawed

Interesting new characters but the main plot for the episode was silly. This show has become hyper focused on fabricated social issues while ignoring the actual fascism, homelessness, and drug/gun violence that is rampant and growing.

Last episode was enjoyable then this.....
viccrown21 April 2021
Last episode was enjoyable, finally no stupid bs social justice garbage this season.... then we start this episode with, "someone's threatening me because I stand for criminal justice reform (and it's probably a cop or evil white man)". Then when the cops protect her, she comes to the defense of the stalker. And for a second I thought you were gonna let this be an enjoyable show again. Starting to lose interest and patience.

I didn't think they could jump the shark any further...

Warning: Spoilers
Boy was I wrong. Now instead of explicitly racist cops that were considered untouchable because "cops protect their own" which was bad enough, the show is basically placating the notion that this country is completely infested with not just "white supremacists" but basically white ISIS in pickup trucks going around kidnaping innocent activists to put them on trial and punish them when found guilty. The show has lost any and all basis in reality which is a shame because it started out fantastic especially when they went out of their way to show some of the rules, regulations, and mandates officers have to abide by. And of course, the comic relief is a fat white bumbling idiot rookie who never would have made it through the academy but ends up accidently shooting his gun on day one. At least Police Academy waited until day 3.

This is no Die Hard
spikeluvr20 April 2021
This episode went completely off the rails with the violent white supremacist plot line. The rest of the show was great but they didn't do themselves any favor by trying to make Nolan look like John McClane. I know this is fiction but when is the last time any city had a shoot out like that between cops and anyone let alone white supremacists? It looked more like Iraq than Los Angeles.

M4 rifles with no rear sights, no wonder no one can shoot straight
acostaandrew-5137725 April 2021
This episode it the worst in the entire series, being a veteran it's cring worthy watching the "army" boot, and why was she in Fallujah using a breaching shotgun in a firefight? It would make more sense if they said she was in Afghanistan and not some little shotgun guru!

When it comes to the shoot out with the white supremacists at point blank range it's no wonder no one can hit each other since the rifles are missing an important component, a REAR SIGHT! No to mention all of those rounds of 5.56 or .223 being made of dirt and not able to penetrate a door, really?
