Great ending

Wow what an ending, very satisfying but at the same time tragic. Marty finally gets to live his life, but he lost 30 years of it. Ike still believing he is correct is absolutely insane and scary. I think the many issues of the series are worth this last episode.

Fantastic Conclusion

Absolutely fantastic conclusion to a harrowing series. Incredibly good acting by both Will and Paul - I've never hated a character in a show as much as I hated Ike (Paul Rudd) and never felt such compassion as I did for Marty (Will Ferrell).

So satisfying to see him reunited with his family at the end and the reconciliation, but so much tragedy that he missed out on 27 years of his family's life, and missing out on potentially the love of his life.

Also extremely satisfying that Ike's licence was revoked, just a shame he didn't go to jail!!

All in all, fantastic series. And to think, after the first two episodes I was considering dropping it because it was kind of slow!

People still don't get it

Warning: Spoilers
He was not conned because he was rich, Ike did not know Marty was loaded, till Marty begged Ike to come out to the Hamptons with him. The money was a nice bonus. Ike done this to many people some rich some not, for Ike it was about Control. Ike was the most damaged person in the whole show, he was so insecure he had to control people surround himself with stars lead a fake life. Mind you his wife was no saint, she happily lived the life, with Marty in the guest house. She also got off on it the fame the riches.

Then we have his sister Phyllis did she not break into Marty's house and steal from his safe? She was the one who pushed Marty more towards Ike, and thanks to her Ike got to go to the Hamptons Then she just blames Marty, she is no saint So a OK ending, but I do hope Karma comes and bites Ike on the arse and he suffers badly.

Shrinks are the people we feel we can trust. Hope our hearts to, tell the most painful stuff to. For Ike to use that power that control to his sick benefits he deserves way more then just being kicked out of his profession.

Episode 8

The time jumps were crazy on the show, but I like the importance of the coy in all of it. Ike never changing and still trying to con Marty til the very end was the only way to wrap this up.

Anticlimactic

Warning: Spoilers
The problem with any series based on a "true story" is always the question of how much "truth" is there. What truths do you sacrifice to make better tv?

In the case of this series, the finale probably should have stretched the "truth" more.

I know that sounds silly, but as it was, even this series itself warns the viewer at the outset that things aren't completely "the way they really were", so with that being the case, why did the ending need to be so... boring?

That's what it was, boring. I get that the protagonist had a cathartic discussion with his therapist, the therapist got his "comeuppance" (sort of), Marty was reunited with his family, etc.

The problem was how it was all presented, like the last episode felt like you showing up to class the day AFTER the last day of school. Why are we still here? What else is there to tell?

I don't think the series knew "how" it wanted to end this show, or more specifically, how it wanted to end the friendship, so it didn't really "do" anything. We are left with "just the facts", which felt pointless.

The worse part
eldoct26 January 2022
The worse part about this, is that is a true story...and you've to necessarily be rich to land in the same situation......................................
