Amazing episode with even better supporting acts

Doja Cat and Rae sremmurd really stole the show, Doja definitely has a future as an actress and the same goes for Swae and Jxmmi. Best "Drama" episode of the season by far.

Great Depiction of Modern Romance

Can't believe this comment isn't already here. The way this episode showed modern dating and relationships was really beautiful. It has been obvious that Dave Season 2 has definitely been different then Season 1. This episode is no exception, To me this was the "deepest" episode of the season yet. Wow. I didn't think I would talk about meaning of an episode from this show. Just goes to show how versatile the series will be.

Hilarious episode, my favorite of the season! Episodes like these are what keep me coming after that horrible nude episode.

Modern dating in a nutshell
hackneylove7 December 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A great episode on online dating. Very much reminded me of the "First Date" episode (S2, E4) in Master of None.

Dave quickly puts Doja Cat on a pedestal and gets disappointed just as fast. We get a glimpse into Doja's reality - she stole the show in this episode - and understand how draining and superficial celebrity life can be. Anonymous internet users insult her, work partners are uncooperative, and guys she wants to go on dates with (Dave) are insecure and jump to conclusions.

It's a commentary on everything that is wrong with online dating and modern romance. Users are always on the lookout for the next better option and don't hesitate to cancel last minute for a potentially more "rewarding" date. It happens to Dave, it happens to his Plan B, and then it happens to his Plan B's date: a white guy ordering gumbo at a fine dining restaurant. Once he learns his date won't make it, he just goes back to swiping (which cracked me up).

Best episode of season 2 so far.

Lil story

Dave Season 1, was a little crass, but I found I found myself laughing. And there was some smart dialogue buried within. There's a small jewel in each episode.

Season 2 has been really difficult. Dave is just so unlikable he gets called out for the narcissist that he is. And the side characters become doubly dreadful. Ally is the only half reasonable one, and I think her notable absence in S2 was really felt. Mike was likeable, and he's even started to rot, like most that are around Dave.

I get it, money corrupts, and skews the creative process.

Other episodes are shards, half stories, with a little absurdism. Not sure if the show is trying to be deep or not.

Celebrity placement is lost on me as a Brit, as I don't know any of them. But for Bieber's small part. The parents are almost grounding in this wayward mess.

I wish they'd subtitle the texts properly as I can never read them without putting my nose on the telly.

So plenty meh. I've gotten this far, so may as well finish the season now.

True that most of us are rotten for some or most of the time. But we need the old glimmer of hope and redemption.

Not the same show this season

While there are a few laughs in the episodes this season I really don't care for the direction that the show is going, that being is that there is no direction. Over bloated with celebrity appearances for what reason? It's nice that he has so many celebrity friends that want to be on the show or that he wants on it but a lot of the scenes just feel messy and slapped in just for a guest appearance. The only episode that has seemed to show any sort of storyline was the Kameer Abdul Jabaar episode and actually dived into his past relationship and how he perceives himself. Then the rest are supposed to be supported by his relationships with Mike and Elz but both just feel lazily done and not really explored more. Unless this is all heading towards a finale where all these things get more explanation then I can't say I'll care to watch a season 3. The elz drama kind of came out of no where and then we see how much he doesn't appreciate Mike and have no outburst from Mike (as of yet). I hope this story is actually leading somewhere as I'd love for the show to go on but right now it's very random and boring for how good the first season was. Still time to change my mind with the remaining episodes but I'd at least like to see some form of payoff to the shows that I watch.
