So both Donna and Rebecca suffer from an embarrassment of suitors and don't find the experience particularly enjoyable. The Paul/Rebecca/ Andrew love triangle is actually fairly painful.Rebecca and Andrew are at best an okay couple but Paul is Paul and he and Cassandra would actually be well-suited if it wasn't for the fact that meant her getting what she wanted. The revelation that Paul and Rebecca just talked on their night together is surprising and something of a relief.
Donna being more irritated than impressed by Ringo and Zeke fighting over her shows how much she's come on since she joined.Ringo says all the right things in his reconciliation attempt but it's actually nice that Donna stands up to him and refuses to compromise(so long as it isn't permanent...).The way she handles Zeke is nice as well and him refusing to give in to one of Susan's sanctimonious speeches is even better.
The characterisation of Simon continues to impress, he really doesn't seem to have any loyalty to Cassandra and his attempts to steer Tegan away from her influence are interesting.
