This episode shows in frightening detail what Dahmer's neighbor went through, what she saw and heard and how her concerns fell on deaf ears. The police ignored her 911 calls and didn't seem at all concerned to investigate. Why? Because of the neighborhood? Because they didn't believe her? Because they were lazy? The point of this episode is not race, it's just another example of how Dahmer should have been caught much earlier than he did. Jackson's presence in this episode is secondary to the horror that the neighbor went through. It's beautifully acted. The scene with the sandwich is terrifying.

An Emmy for Niecy Nash, please.
astonmatters2 October 2022
Evan Peters is magnificent as Dahmer and he should be showered with awards and accolades for his portrayal.

But man, did Niecy Nash kick it out of the park in this episode. Her acting is sublime, which makes the sandwich scene with the equally mesmerizing Evan Peters one of the highlights in the series so far. You can almost taste her fear. You can feel her resolve not to let it show to Dahmer. It is a complex situation, but her portrayal makes all the emotions immediately tangible. She is absolutely fantastic.

Both of them, Peters and Nash, should be lauded for the work they are doing here, nevermind what you think of the series overall. Bravo!!

Search Glenda Cleveland. She was real and this is true (with some artistic license)
paultaylor-7282119 October 2022
Ignore those complaining on here that this episode is all make believe. Just search on the internet yourself and you will see. I've just done that. Seen interviews with Glenda. Read articles from newspapers from a week after Dahmer was caught. She didn't live next door but lived in an opposite building but she did call the police (it's her voice at the end of episode 2 you hear in the tv show). Other Neighbours moved out from the smell. Another neighbour was given a sandwich which was eaten. It doesn't matter that artistic license was used here. It is easier/more effective to write this all as one character who lives next door. But the differences do not change the reasons why this guy got away with it for so long.

Completely in line with the 1992 tensions
xaaf_de_raaf29 September 2022
A lot of reviews don't understand the depth of this episode. This has nothing to do with the current snowflake of activist agenda we see and here nowadays so often. This was a time when in LA there were a lot injustices done towards black people like Rodney King example. The 1992 riots, caused shockwaves, look it up.

This episode shows perfectly, how it was as a black person in that time trying to reach the authorities to get justice. Impossible!

Where is the logic from the police letting this person (Jeff Dahmer) go so many times? Unforgiveable, a lot of errors were made and a lot of people reached out.

Glenda
enasaljammal26 September 2022
Glenda Cleveland ( jeffery danger's neighbor ) was a warrior, the amount of effort and time she spent trying to get the police attention , to get dahmer caught or at least investigated is amazing .This episode isn't much about race as it's of the authorities failure , it shows how this case was the neglected & if someone just listened to Glenda once things could have ended sooner and innocent lives would have been saved.

I can't even imagine the horrors she overheard & the trauma experienced . And the sandwich thing !!

Shoutout to her and I hope she managed to get over this traumatizing experience .

Powerhouse Niecy Nash!
benaggie2 January 2023
Niecy Nash made and sustained this episode.

People are complaining about this being some sort of made up social justice episode, but whether or not Jeffrey Dahmer specifically targeted people of color the victims were definitely ignored based on their race and sexual preference.

Niecy Nash completely encapsulated the voices of the left behind and ignored. She made their voice her own.

This episode very well may have been a derivative episode trying to use typical tv tropes to conjure some false sense of injustice without Ms. Nash's powerhouse performance as Glenda Cleveland. Give this woman some awards!

Amazing
dennyjones-474952 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This was the best episode in my opinion. Niecy Nash did an incredible job showing how much she went through living next to him. This episode was captivating is the most terrifying way possible as you see Glenda always trying to stop Dahmer and help people not become victims of his yet always being let down by not only the police but also the build manager. It's truly amazing to see how many times she called the police and constantly try to draw in attention to the sketchy stuff going on from Dahmer. It just goes to show how if people payed any attention how differently things could have went and how many lives could have been saved.

Not the best episode, but an interesting enough watch.
Sleepin_Dragon15 October 2022
A look at the frustrations and anger felt by Jeff's neighbour Glenda, who reported Dahmer's volatile behaviour multiple times, and got absolutely nowhere.

After the peak of the previous episode, this felt like a little bit of a backwards step, but it was still good.

I understand that there may well be some factual inaccuracies with the episode, but just to remind everyone, that this is a dramatisation, so there will be a few liberties taken. The sandwich scene was interesting let's say.

It's a slower paced episode, but it's one that shows the injustices of the time, Glenda got absolutely nowhere, it's sickening, had she been taken seriously, how many lives would have been saved?

Once again, it's well acted and very well produced, the team truly did capture the feel and the visuals of the era.

6/10.

Emmy winning performances by Peters and Nash
MamaCassHamSandwich20 October 2022
This episode was incredible - with the focus on Niecy Nash as the neighbor Glenda who knew something was not right. Again, Peters turns in another Emmy winning performance as Dahmonster. The only thing I had a problem with is accuracy - back in the early 90s, black people were referred to as 'African American' while brown people were referred to as 'Hispanic'. 'Black and Brown' people replaced those names in the 2010s. So when 'Rev. Jackson' refers to them as 'black and brown people' he's reaching 20 years into the future. Also, what is the name 'Cassandra' the title ? There is no character by that name.

Quite weak episode
scrybess18 February 2023
The episode gives the perspective of Dahmer's neighbor. It's useful, but not to the point of devoting an entire episode to it. The same goes for racial issues which are covered in depth, although they are not the most interesting, far from it. As the season progresses, Dahmer fades in favor of a secondary character. It's a disappointing choice.

The episode is not very bad, but weak. Note however the very good scene, full of tension, between Dahmer and his neighbor. Conversely, the interventions of the reverend bring nothing. Or at least that's a pretty pale way of approaching the political consequences of the Dahmer affair.

Glenda

Warning: Spoilers
This Episode begins with Jeff, he just drugged Tracy in his appartment. Tracy escaped out of Jeff his appartment. Jeff got arrested by the police. Glenda gets a sandwich from Jeff, but she will not eat it. Jeff makes a lot of noise in his appartment, Glenda hears everything. Jeff killed so many innocent man. Jackson wants to know more about Jeff, Glenda tells more about him. Nice Episode of Dahmer Season 1, really great to see the story of Jeffrey Dahmer out of another view. Glenda is a real power woman for me. Let's go Glenda! I am curious to see how Jeff his life was in prison and more interviews from the police please!

Not accurate
christopherRclarke5 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I have to give this episode low rating. Show is good but this episode is factually incorrect. Glenda was NOT Jeff's neighbour. Artistic licence Im sure using her character and other reports from other neighbours, but incorrect. He did take his neighbour a sandwich, but I wonder how much of this show has been distorted to fit the times and viewer audience. The sandwich scene seems very overdone in a way, considering the strong personality they have created for Glenda to be if she was his neighbour, but she wasn't, she lived across the road from his building and not in the same building as Jeff Dahmer.

Completely inaccurate!
snowwake6 October 2022
Glenda Cleveland never lived next door to Dahmer. This is nothing more than cinematic fiction for who knows what reason but completely takes away from the show and the victims. This is by far the worst episode of the entire season. Now, they did mention Pamela Bass in this episode and decided to go for theatrics over accuracy. It's disappointing that they did this intentionally. I'd be furious if I was a family member of a victim. In my opinion this episode made it difficult to even finish the series and made me look back on earlier episodes and wonder why they blatantly went so far off the truth. Sad!

Misinformation and lies
liammcnulty877 October 2022
Great series, but this episode is a complete fabrication. This episode is the entire reason Netflix made this series, I'm sure. They saw an opportunity to take a tragic story about the many victims of Dahmer and turn it into an agenda piece about race.... Which was never the case. Race never factored into any of this, especially with the police. Complete lies, but people with an agenda are happy to cheer this episode because it fits their narrative. I feel bad for the victims families having their deaths used to push racial politics where it doesn't exist.

It's a shame this episode woefully inaccurate episode exists in an otherwise fantastic series.

Unnecessary Twisted Narrative
j_a-1140723 September 2022
The show had been pretty good up to this point. It was slowly and effectively telling how Jeff turned out the way he did. It was putting us closer to him, to help us to either understand or not understand what was going on inside his head that allowed him to become the evil and horrific monster he became. There was very little rhyme or reason to how he chose his victims. He had no prejudices. He did not discriminate. But along comes episode 7, which attempts to make the audience believe that minorities were targeted. And that the crimes against these minorities (some of which were White) were discounted by law enforcement and most all others involved simply because they were victims in what they described as underserved communities. Way to go with the hindsight play here - Easy to call it on Monday morning after watching the game on Sunday. They really twisted the narrative on this one.

This Episode didn't fit in
hellersfranz25 October 2022
This episode was a complete letdown. The neighborhood story is inaccurate and the "sandwich scene" felt so out of place... Just to create some tension. The WOKENESS in this Episode just sucks and lacks of storytelling like in episodes before. ALRIGHT, the polive messed up and the neighbor always knew... But this is not what the stoty was about. The following episode LIOMEL was much morr authentic and intense, especially because of less overacting and scripted reality. It would habe been better to tell the story in less episodes than installing sideplots that lead to nowhere. This one disappointed me completely and was, in my opinion, just made for the producers.

This Episode made me a fool
smoon-3778915 November 2022
So as someone who knew about Dahmer from tabloids and movie references this documentary gives me a great in depth story.. however, this episode made a fool out of me as it is historically innacurate.. I looked like an idiot trying to tell my friends about Dahmer case and it turns out the writers are making fictitious stories of real people involved.. how do they get away with it? .. it happened with the Woman King.. turns out that movie is no where near historically accurate. The acting and writing is great but the fact they took a true story and made a fake subplot is unethical and treats the viewers like their fools .. only reason for a low rating.
