The body of mother and wife Lisa, is found on the banks of The River Tyne, a post Morten shows that she wasn't drowned.
The Way the wind blows is a fine episode, and a strong conclusion to the eleventh series, quite often they saved the best for last, we've waited a long time for it, but it really was worth the wait.
A very cohesive, tightly written episode, it's very easy to follow, well paced, and very satisfying. Maybe it wasn't too hard to work out the identity of the killer, but it is a very neat, tight mystery.
Vera is wonderfully grumpy throughout, she's sharp and a little abrasive, but she's tenacious and dogged, her character hasn't altered since that very first episode. I hope Blethyn continues for a few years to come.
A real shame this was Malcolm's final episode, I never felt that it was a part big enough for Paul Kaye, he was always very good, but he's better than the paper allows.
You have to hand it to wardrobe, some of the outfits are absolutely hideous, Vera and Jac wear some shockers, and no words for Kenny's brown suit.
9/10.
