Tank Fairy
BandSAboutMovies11 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
In this short film by Erich Rettstadt, Marian Mesula plays the Tank Fairy, a magical woman who delivers tanks of gas with plenty of sass) to Jojo (Ryan Lin), a young man with a dream and the need for someone exactly like the Tank Fairy in his life.

This movie looks like foreign commercials or a strange TV show from a country you can't place and you watch it while you eat and watch those wild music videos that some restaurants still play and I say that as a supreme compliment. Shot in Taiwan, it has energy, verve and, yes, sass. Also gas.

This movie feels like it could give someone that needs hope some hope.

Bedazzled

No pun intended here - the movie is really quite ... well glorious. I can imagine some calling this woke or other names. Worse names - but it would be a shame, because the short movie here (my favorite that played at Fantasy Filmfest out of the 10 they showed, all good in some way or another) is really good and tries to spread happiness and to represent people that may feel marginalized.

I almost wrote that I am bit surprised this was made in China, but then I read it was made or at least shot in Taiwan. I reckon they are a bit more open minded there. This surely would not be made in Russia or North Korea - at least I can't imagine it would be.

And to be clear: no this will not make your child/kid do things it does not want to or wanted to anyway. Believe me - society is not at the point where we are actually open minded to change and different tastes and people being or trying to be what they want to be. This movie empowers those - a minority - and is entertaining enough for anyone to have fun with it. Spread positivity if you can - not just when you are looking for a hero (no pun intended)

Incredible thought provoking short

This short film was a very pleasant surprised, where the film was already very hyped - and surely delivers a unique and artistic experience.

Without much in ways of dialogue, the actors cleverly and expertly conveys the emotions and important questions about identity and the ability to be who you are. Very well acted, and very well written and paced for the short runtime.

The cinematography, cutting and editing is great, very beautiful, very low scaled and very unique and touching.

Overall, definitely a great film, and a great way of showing how short subject films can be almost as provoking as features in some ways. Give this arthouse piece a watch!

delicious

Frm the old Chines postcards to the dragqueen, all seems source of inspiration for this short film so kitsch in its essence than it becomes ...delightful.

From the fair deiven irony to the fascination of a boy about the different ...fairy, from reactions of single mother to the little mouses , from musical moments to the unrealistic but charming end, all is provocative and sweert in same measure.

And , reminding the Comunist period , and discovering realistic reflection of curiosity of child and fears of his young mother , all becomes a profound inspired show as gallery of portraits, reactions and attitude about the different other and...the life.

At the end, temptation to define it as...delicious.
