Not surprised that this is written by Kelly and directed by Michael, and surprised at the slightly negative reviews cus there's almost a hidden genius to this episode. Erin and Gabe are still recent characters at this point in the series, and this episode takes the time to flesh them out. Sure, none of the characters are acting particularly likeable, but by the end of it, it's really showing the solidified bond the og character cast has with each other. Erin and Gabe were also really funny to me (the lunch scene really made me appreciate Ellie Kemper and Kevin's comeback was amazing) even if they are also acting selfish. The smart part of the writing to me was how the episode looked at the differences in power dynamics between men and woman, and how that power can be abused. Gabe's arc was more obvious, but the key to Erin is her blaming Andy for him failing to randomly bring up past relationships (unless there was a conversation abt it b4 but as we've seen neither of the couple are the best conversationalists), saying it's his fault for breaking their trust when it could very well be on her overreacting. Maybe I'm overanalyzing but when office theories like Gabe secretly being a runaway b-villian from the show Dexter weirdly fit, it's hard not to doubt that this show is as simple as it seems.
