TV At It's Finest

The final episode of this excellent BBC adaptation does not disappoint. It is back to the high quality of the first episode.

Once again Maisie Williams impresses, I'm truly impressed with this girl. But the star of the show is Jones. She is excellent, all the cast are on top form. Cooke is given less to do here which is a shame. But Ellis is again given more to do and Douglas Henshall is still excellent. Donald Sumpter is also worthy of praise. There is really no weak link in the cast. This is TV at it's finest.

Everybody involved with this production should be proud of their work. I don't watch a lot of BBC TV productions, as usually I find them lacking in quality to say the least. But I can not fault anything on show here.

Interesting

This was an enjoyable mini-series. I had not checked with IMDB prior to watching it and it was only half way through the first episode that I realized that the father was none-other than Lucifer!!! Honestly, knowing that made me enjoy this show even more!!! I thought I would not enjoy a ghost story but it was very well done and acted. It is amazing how people stay evil even until the end of their life. No guilt or redeeming qualities even for so-called Christians. The youngest daughter was so adourable. We have to learn to listen to children more. Sometimes they have more insight into the unexplainable.

Great TV.

Even though I knew how this story had to end it was still sad and a little shocking. The two time frame stories really come together here, this really is great tv. Tom Ellis and Surrane Jones are amazing here, Tom in particular does angst so well, I felt his pain. This really is top notch entertainment. More of the same please BBC.

Ghostly Beatings

Brilliantly adapted from an excellent book by James Herbert. Worth reading on its own so you know the full details of the plot.

Both Tom Ellis & Suranne Jones are very well cast for their respective roles.

The little girl Cally is fabulous too!! All the main characters are brilliantly cast in their roles.

Doug Henshall makes a great baddie, just by being a quietly menacing and ever so slightly beyond mentally unstable towards the orphans.

There is enough suspense too without resorting to gun toting violence just for a change!!

Great scenery. Excellent Location spotting too.

Would be nice to see other books of this genre to be adapted along the same standards was this drama was.

The BBC have done a good job!!! Well Done

A Heartfelt Ending
stratus_phere23 June 2018
This final episode in the three part series was emotional, especially at the end. I won't give anything away, but it was haunting and ghostly, it was tragic and beautiful, and it had its thrilling moments filled with danger.

I don't know why more shows like this aren't made, and I don't know why this show doesn't have a higher rating. I love this!

I'm not normally a fan of flashbacks, and I prefer a story being told in the "now", and not in two timelines. So if that's what puts people off I can understand. But the ghostiness isn't something people should complain about. After all this is a ghost story. It takes place in an old English house in a small northern village. You should expect all the atmosphere and "gothic romance" style plots.

One thing that I liked about this is getting multiple characters involved, going around and talking to people...not too many, but a few here and there, and learning more of the mystery as you go. Some people have secrets, some people are covering things up, some people have lots of information to move the story along.

Great acting, writing, the whole bit. Please do more of this.
