It was an excellent film
srishanthburugu7 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This is an excellent movie, Watchable with family also there is no nudity, sex content and no vulgar language used in movie but there are some scenes with hugs and kisses. The plot of the movie is nice but it was not happen in real life like if a person forgets their past and never meet them again in real life they will start a new life but overall movie is good but I felt slow/lag movie at some scenes no problem not so much. At last we can see some of intresting scenes. Nani and mrunal's acting was good and all remaining cast are done their best. Don't expect much twists on it and may be it disappoints mass audiance.

Beautiful movie
shadabsiddique6 January 2024
Beautiful father-daughter love story. Also very beautifully shown love story between main leads. I am a Hindi movie viewer and I loved all of Nani's movies ( dubbed in Hindi). I wish I could tell Nani directly how a wonderful actor he is and all his movies are worth the time. Mrinal Thakur is a brilliant actress. I saw it on my home theater on Netflix and worth watching with family. Good story that has quite a bit twist and surprises that will delight the audience. Songs could have been better except the last two song in the movie. The child actress will steal your heart and make you feel emotional.

Works for most majority but mixed for minority
mecolas_silwal9 December 2023
The movie is so beautifully made and the production value looks so good the sets were so colorful and refresing which as everyone's saying felt like a warm hug when it reaches the end . And Oh my God hesham is a genius , the background score the songs (except odiyama which I felt was kinda mid especially the choreography) were so good the violin part just hits you right at your heart. And how could I forget the performance of both the leads were so good the chemistry is sooo good . Nani is back at his best after 8 or 7 years playing a dad character with the same level of conviction and ease. And mrunal is back at her a game after sita ramam(she's so beautiful and her smile just melts your heart) this movie is a solid comeback for mrunal after a series of duds and mixed bags in in her recent movies and I hope to see her in good movies of other geners as well (I hope she doesn't get typecasted ,tbh I wouldn't mind even if she got type casted) . And how ccould i foget the cute kiara i actually didnt think a young actor like her could be this cute and good at acting shes been used so nicely by shouryav i hope to ses her in more movies .And shouryav Noone can believe he's a debutant how can he be soo good at making the audience feel for his characters and situations .I did feel like the actual plot of the movie is very thin and simple and probably could've improved in that section. And the slow burn everyones talking about which didn't feel slow at all to me the felt like it was moving in a pretty good pace which suited the movie a lot. Oh and the at the very last the one of the backbones of the whole movie its screenplay is done so beautifully so nicely that even if you could predict the movie you would still feel the emotion and viraj's love and longing for yashna Cineplie rating is a solid 3.5/5.

Mass audience rating is 4/5 Me personally is 4.25 /5 cuz this movie was so refreshing after the series of violet action and drama movies

Plus points Performed of the stars The screenplay Music and background score The production value The cinematography The chemistry Twists

Minus points Predictable and thin story There was a slight lag (by slight i meant like very very slight)in the story in the second half probably cuz of the odiyama song

Not really minus points In some sequences (like 1 or 2 ) it gets kinda cringey in the past sequence if you don't really connect with the actors performances and chemistry. ( If mrunal or nani sees this or reads this review I'm a big fan)

Hi naana
uditirahulgala8 December 2023
It is an amazing movie . The story line is outstanding . I'm writing this review, because I am so thankful that such movie writers still exists in such a bad reputational movie industry. This movie was well scripted. The actors were also thoughtfully chosen. Nani was perfect for this role and Mrudul Thakur being a North Indian actress she is so good 👌 she looks like the authentic South Indian actress. In short the movie is fantastic, amazing, sometimes overwhelming but touching. Hats of to the writer of this movie . This movie deserves a round of applause. This deserves a award. Thank you !!!!

A must watch on the big screen
VineethGvs20 December 2023
Had a wow feeling after watching Hi Nanna and coming out of the theatres. You will have this feeling only for a very few movies. This is one of the best love story movies I have seen since a very long time. Nani, Mrunal and especially the little one Kiara's acting has added an extra layer of awesomeness to this film. Hoping more and more film makers will try to make these type of films in the future. Its very good to see actors like Nani do these kinds of films instead of safe bet masala films. This film once again proves that audience can blindly trust Nani's script selection and no one in the tollywood is even close to him in this aspect.

A comfort cry , A warm Hug
pagal-tigerniskson11 December 2023
One of the best of the year film, Nani has never disappoints with his story choices.

Love chemistry is super sweet between the couples.

The kid has done fantastic job.

Post second half full of emotional cry for me , tears kept rolling and rolling till the climax.

Eventhough we have seen these type of stories many times over.

The screenplay and the Lead pair has been phenomenal makes it a worthy watch.

The amnesia and love trope is always the best one for me.

There are no boring scenes and the two songs that i watched in tamil was a fantastic rendition in terms of tune and lyrics .

Mrunal thakur's beauty is so charming to behold .

An Absolute Brilliant and Heart-warming Tale of Love and Emotions !!!
cs_rahul_prasad7 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Hi Nanna, a much-anticipated film of the season, directed by Shouryuv and featuring Nani and Mrunal Thakur, lives up to expectations, offering a cinematic experience rich in emotional depth. The 155-minute runtime expertly explores the nuances of love, marriage, and parenthood, maintaining engagement and feeding the soul.

Hi Nanna unfolds a poignant narrative against the scenic backdrop of Coonoor. The story follows Viraj (Nani), an aspiring photographer, and Varsha (Mrunal), who defy economic disparities to discover love. Their journey takes a turn when they become parents to Mahi (Baby Kiara). Fast forward to the present; Viraj, now a celebrated photographer in Mumbai, navigates the complexities of single parenting as Mahi battles a life-threatening lung condition.

The performances by Nani, Mrunal Thakur, and Kiara Khanna bring the heartwarming family drama to life. Their portrayal of vulnerabilities and the essence of the father-daughter bond is commendable. Nani's post-Dasara transformation adds a fresh touch to his character, while Mrunal displays versatility with panache. The chemistry between the lead actors is palpable, making their on-screen moments a delight. Their characters are intricately layered and thoroughly explored. Whether stepping into the shoes of a photographer, depicting the desperation of a father, or conveying the longing of a lover, Nani strikes all the right chords, and Mrunal beautifully compliments him.

Kiara Khanna, portraying Mahi, steals hearts with a brilliant performance, becoming the cutest and most beautiful aspect of the movie. Even Pluto, the pet dog, delivers an impressive performance, becoming an integral part of the plot. The film has plenty of moments that moist the eyes of the audience.

The ensemble cast, including Shruti Haasan, Nassar, Priyadarshi, Angad Bedi, Jayaram, and Hemayat Rahman, contributes effectively to the film's beauty. Shruti and Nani shake a leg in the peppy song 'The Party Anthem Odiyamma' during an episode in Goa. And it acts as a swift break from the poetic narrative showcased in the film.

Kushi fame Hesham Abdul Wahab's musical brilliance, Sanu John Varghese's cinematography, and Praveen Anthony's editing enhance the emotional depth of the narrative, turning it into a tastefully crafted saga with top-notch production values. Despite some predictability and slow-paced narrative, all the crafts came together to create an engaging cinematic experience.

While the film maintains engagement throughout, minor lags occasionally surface, providing the lead characters with ample time to establish and showcase their emotions. Hi Nanna transcends being just a movie; it's a journey through love, resilience, and the delicate threads that bind a family together. Shouryuv, Nani, Mrunal, and the entire cast have created a beautiful film that resonates with the audience, making the film a must-watch for those seeking a blend of heart and soul in cinema.

3 hours of ecstasy.
krishnam-459387 December 2023
Always wondered how beautiful to see a telugu film with a great story like notebook. Nani came up with a little tweaks and made it wonderful, I've enjoyed the whole movie. Screenplay, music, narration everyone does their job well. Mrunal was the soul of the film, Nani made everyone eyes wet. I went with the confidence that Nani will never disappoint us regardless of how the movie will turn out and this is no exception, go with family, go with your better half, go with your daughter everyone will definitely fall in love with narration and love the characters. Go on and keep your problems away for 3 wonderful hours.

One of the Best Feel Good Movie for 2023
aruncozy10 December 2023
Movie started with the father's love and affection and slowly story started taking us into the movie. Love, Affection, Care, Responsibility and Value of Promises we make; omg such a beautiful storyline and I felt like this movie should never end. Director made us watch on the edge of the seat with couple of tears rolling down. Fantastic acting by Naani and Mrunal. The charismatic acting of Mrunal is carry forwarded from SitaRam. Naani as usual he has given his best. He is been exceptional in choosing storyline these days and this is one such movie. #MustWatchMovie #LoveForHiNanna #FeelGoodMovie.

Hi Nanna : The good, the bad and the ugly
stan-9057211 January 2024
I found myself entangled in a narrative filled with unexpected twists, offering a rollercoaster of emotions suitable for family viewing. However, the prolonged 2.5-hour runtime, especially towards the conclusion, left the film feeling a tad laborious.

The characters, while diverse, presented a puzzle, making it challenging to comprehend their motivations and actions. This enigma added an extra layer of complexity that, at times, hindered a full immersion into their stories. Yet, amid these intricacies, the movie managed to weave moments of emotional connection.

The soundtrack, with one notable exception, failed to make a lasting impression. Most tunes, unfortunately, failed to rise above mediocrity, quickly fading into obscurity.

In essence, Hi Nanna is a mixed bag-an acceptable watch for a lazy afternoon with the family. While it has its share of highs and lows, the film's narrative elements make it interesting , even as it grapples with some shortcomings in character development and pacing."

Shouryuv shows how one can get several undone theories together to make a perfect emotionally absorbing drama
SAMTHEBESTEST12 January 2024
Hi Nanna (2023) : Brief Review -

Shouryuv shows how one can get several undone theories together to make a perfect emotionally absorbing drama. Hi Nanna can be called one of the best Indian movies of 2023 (because we hardly got any good movies last year) for its emotional appeal and dramatic flow. It can be called a mix of many of your favorite flicks that have a memory loss of a partner like Random Harvest, a kid dying like Paa, a soon-to-be dulha like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, and then there is a khadoos maa of a heroine like we have seen in hundreds of movies. Yet, Shouryuv was too smart to write a legally original copy (verbally he will lose, though) to serve you with a whole, complete movie made out of many incomplete theories. The script leaves many things undone and unjustified, only to gather all the scattered pieces at the end and build a tower of human sentiments. Few things are overdone with the characters, but that's a part of mainstream imperfect filmmaking that doesn't really give a damn about certain critics awards (whichever aren't paid or promotional yet. Are there any?). What I meant to say is that it's a safe film by all means. It may not be highly intelligent or intellectual with its surroundings and mix-up of different mindsets, but it is still one of the best mixtures of proper human emotions in Indian cinema in recent times that cater to children, youth, and adults, in short, all age groups. Sita Ramam and Hi Ninna-to hell with month-based national crushes, our Mrunal Thakur is just manufactured differently by God! Nani shines yet again, and this one deserves more hype than overrated Jersey, in my opinion (not performance, but the film). Legend Jayaram sir walks away with an honest character that you wish your father would be, while Kiara Khanna is your cute dream daughter. Hail Shouryuv for writing, screenwriting, and direction as he successfully manages to finish the target given to BA pass salesmen for tissue sales within 150 minutes.

RATING - 7/10*

Unnecessarily long and basic
whitep-651665 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I started the movie with an open mind hoping to be thoroughly entertained but it failed to deliver woefully. It terms of it being emotional, it wasn't I just couldn't connect to the emotional side.

The coincidence was just too much, she gets to meet her mother just when shes asking about her and she's about to be married.

I still don't get how no one ever told her she's mahi's mother even when the movie ended. They just kept dragging the whole thing. The movie was unnecessarily long and could have covered important part of the story especially the end.

In all I rate this 5 stars because I really like the young lady that played Mahi, she was the fun part of the movie.

Worth watching, heart warming emotions
himakhar12 December 2023
Movie is filled with full of emotions and passionate love story depicted by director in a extraordinary way portraying characters to display deeper meaning of relationship. A worth watching movie by naani after Jersey I think this is the best movie which utilises best of naani as a wonderful actor and also beautifully portrayed by Mrunali thakur. The traditional look of her is mesmerizing as always and I really enjoyed the emotional part of the husband and wife, care for each other towards child is unbelievable, also the locations of the shoot all are colorful. A movie we can watch with our family :)

No doubt this is the best emotional romantic movie of the year, no vulger scenes, only pure love, perfect cinematography, with very romantic bgm, a great unique story with so many twists, Nani and Mrunal was amazing, it's is a heartwarming film that revolves around the endearing bond between a father, played by the ever-talented Nani, and his adorable baby girl, Kiara, and the mother played by the Queen of every heart, Mrunal Thakur, portrayed with sheer brilliance. Nani's natural performance as a father takes the audience on an emotional roller coaster, capturing the essence of parenthood in every frame. Must Watch, Rating - 9.7*

65 Roses
kiran35310 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
65 Roses does rhyme like the familiar advertisement " Brooke Bond 3 Roses". The film relies heavily on the sentiments and emotions of the audience. It's a tried and tested story albeit told in a different way. Or we can say Old Wine in a New bottle. The movie was cliche and predictable with hero and his wife getting into an accident in the first half, hero narrating his own story to the daughter with his mother sitting across the coffee table. It is the emotions displayed on the screen which makes the movie likeable. Dollops of emotional scenes and tears running down the cheeks of the audience. Mrunal is like a breath of fresh air and proving that she is a versatile actor . The movie rests on the shoulders of Nani who acted brilliantly throughout. He showed a lot of poise and restraint throughout the movie and relied a lot on the narrative of the director. Family entertainer and Mahi is indeed a good actor.

What a Recipe
indeevar16 December 2023
What a perfect recipe

that it came from a debutante director SOURYUV, is a huge surprise in itself.

Director of Music - Hesham Abdul Wahab, less than 10 years scoring music

and the great Sanu John Varghese, Director of photography

a lead pair like Nani and Mrunal Thakur, extremely talented and hard-working people.

How can the movie be anything short of perfection

the entire team played the perfect foil for the young artist Kiara Khanna to show what she is capable of

this is a movie I'll watch many many times and hopefully in the theatre.

Please please watch this movie in a theatre. Don't wait for OTT. This is a movie made for theatres.

10 out of 10, Nanna.

PS: 22nd Jan 2024 - I watched it for the sixth time.

Magical , will give you a good cry that you needed
rishikantpandey4 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This is my first time writing an review on IMDb , This was something special. The movie is magical , when at the last part the actress repeats the dialogues which she told nani but in a negative way , hearing the same thing from her , I literally teared up at that scene, what a writing it was . I crave for these type of movies , which will give you a reason for a good cry. This movie lived up to its art . There are very rare movies made like this in the recent time , I wouldn't have even known about this if not for nani , I watched this movie just being fan of nani , but each and every thing about this movie was outstanding.

If you want something like a slice of life type , you can watch it , these type of movies should be promoted more , I regret not watching this movie in theatre because it wasn't released in my area .

"Hi Nanna" - A Heartrending Journey of Emotions
rupeshtalaskar-752416 January 2024
"Hi Nanna" is not just a movie; it's a profound emotional experience that resonates with the very core of human connections. As a 40-year-old viewer, I found myself engulfed in a whirlwind of emotions, shedding tears like a baby during the poignant narrative that unfolded before my eyes.

Nani and Mrunal's performances are nothing short of masterful, elevating the film to a level of emotional intensity that is rare in the world of cinema. The chemistry between the two actors is palpable, making their characters' journey feel remarkably authentic and relatable.. As a fan now, I am not only appreciative of Nani and Mrunal's individual prowess but also in awe of Baby Kiara's promising talent.

The storytelling in "Hi Nanna" is a delicate dance between heartbreak and hope. The film takes you on a rollercoaster of emotions, navigating the complexities of relationships, loss, and the indomitable spirit of the human soul. The script, beautifully crafted, weaves a narrative that is both heart-wrenching and heartwarming, leaving an indelible mark on the viewer's soul.

What struck me the most was the authenticity of the emotions portrayed by Nani and Mrunal. Their performances transcended the screen, making me forget that I was watching a movie. I felt like an invisible observer, drawn into the lives of the characters, experiencing their joy and pain as if it were my own.

The last 15 minutes before the end credits were a testament to the power of storytelling. The emotional crescendo reached its peak, and I found myself immersed in a sea of tears. The raw vulnerability and genuine emotions displayed by the actors left an emotional imprint that will stay with me for a long time.

"Hi Nanna" is not just a film; it's a mirror reflecting the intricacies of the human experience. It reminds us of the fragility of life, the importance of love, and the resilience of the human spirit. It's a cinematic masterpiece that transcends age, resonating with anyone who has ever felt the profound depths of joy and sorrow.

In conclusion, "Hi Nanna" is a triumph in storytelling, a symphony of emotions conducted by stellar performances. Nani and Mrunal have not only gained a fan in me but have also left an indomitable mark on the landscape of cinema with their exceptional portrayal of the human experience.

Hollow Sugar-coated stuff
av1rup19 January 2024
A movie that desperately tries to max the feel good quotient at the expense of logic, good script and ingenuity. Cliched twists, un-realistic storytelling with some cringe moments. It could have done so much more but ultimately gave in to the mass demands.

It has a lot of stuffs which had made me give Indian commercial movies a break. And obviously this will appeal to a more number of audience than silent underrated gems like "Three of Us".

Honestly I came for Mrunal Thakur expecting it to be something like Sita Ramam. She and Nani to some extent made me stay till the end and earned this one half a star more.

One of the best movie. Should have earned 3to 400Cr
parvigp10 January 2024
A mind-blower!

In a time when mind-blowers, like 8+ rated movies, hover just above average, this film impressed me and blew my mind.

Not a single moment felt boring; it kept me engaged till the end.

Remember, you've watched a movie that provided a wonderful experience, kept you engaged and satisfied. It wasn't the best, but it's among the best. This is simply that type of movie.

I can't get over what they did with Shruti Haasan. I was totally shocked. That was unexpected. (Twist)

Almost every actor did great. It felt like whenever an actor didn't nail a shot, the director took more shots until it was just right.

The lead did an excellent job presenting emotions, especially the child actor.

The songs were okay, not bad or anything.

The songs was kinda avodeble.

Yes, I agree it's old wine in a new bottle.

But where can you find old wine this good?

As for the family disclaimer, it has some minor kissing scenes but is a fully family watch.

It's a solid 8.

Hindi dubbing bakwas - Mrunal overacting
abhilashaa7 February 2024
Hindi dubbing was too bad. Mrunal acting was overacting most of the times. Who even insists on knowing dead mother face features this much. First half was unbearable with so much drama and none of the drama looked real. Even the plot of her brother B a sister also was very unnecessary I feel. The second half was bearable and the twist was good but overall Hindi dubbing was too bad that's why it just gets bearable.

A lot of convinient
manitemp25 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This movie, being a "Nanna" movie, should not be immune to normal criticisms that other movies face. I want to judge this movie based on its cinematic quality and storytelling prowess, which disappointed me. The story is something we have seen multiple times (compare this movie to Chiranjeevi's 'Daddy'), but what bothered me most is the number of "convenient coincidences" this movie has, such as Mahi meeting Varsha just when she wanted to know about her mother, Varsha getting married right after meeting Mahi and hearing her story, Varsha asking her to imagine being her mother, and she is her actual mother, Varsha losing her memory just after she regretted her decision and only forgetting until before her marriage with Viraj, Varsha's fiancé being a "specialist" doctor, the hospital not having good equipment to treat Mahi (come on......), and so on. Apart from this, the story is a mix of these and heavy melodrama, which is not different from the melodrama that you have seen hundreds of times before. The melodrama itself is not a bad thing, but how it is told is very basic and clichéd.

When it comes to directing and cinematography, they are very uninspiring and rudimentary. The music itself might not be bad, but how it is used in the movie is very cheap. I don't want the music to tell me how to feel in any scene, it shows the lack of depth the writing has, and this movie is scored 90% of its length. Mrunal's choice of scripts and her acting skills differentiate her from her peers, but the movie let her down.

Pure bliss

What a masterpiece!!

Outstanding story, screenplay, narration and performances esp little girl.

In the world of violent gory senseless junk presented by Bollywood throughout the year, this is such a breath of fresh air.

Please please keep up the outstanding work and make more masterpieces like these.

South Indian directors and story tellers are truly exceptional and know their craft very well.

It's a shame these masterpieces are under recognized and undervalued.

Mrunal Thakur is one of the best actors around with such good talent. Please keep doing good work.

In summary, if you have a heart and want to fill with pure bliss, don't miss this gem!!
