I thought this series was going to comment about the problem about political divisiveness in the US with an interesting premise about a congressman with a seemingly stupid idea that everyone was opposed to and wanting to become president on that idea. The dynamics between McGuire and the other cast members were interesting. It was good that they wanted to show everyone as human beings with seemingly no clear Bias even when the protagonist is a Democrat. I found that very intriguing and that's what i wanted to hear more about.
** Here i spoil mildly the ending ** At the same time i was eager to find out how was he going to implement it's million dollar idea but i guess it leave's that to the listener to imagine. That last part really took the whole series down for me. It is assumed that his idea was brilliant with no clear explanation on how was he going to implement it, solve its problems and be successful at it. Sure, some of the characters rose objection but they were dismissed by just saying "we raise minimum wage" as if that was really the solution. And inflation is no joke but they trivially discarded that as a problem. Perhaps i didn't get the message and the whole thing was a lie to become president, but given all the talk about idealism i doubt it was just that. Perhaps there will be another season in which they expand more on this and i would really like to hear more about but as it stands now, it's message kind of falls flat at the end which is unfortunate given it's production quality.
Also, there are far to many cringey tropes like spitting the drink when someone says an uncanny idea which maybe those tropes were used to illustrate better what is going on given that the whole thing is just audio but there were far too many of them.
