Kurt Russell as Reno Hightower in The Best Of Times (1986). Nice white shoes. Alan Alda as author George Plimpton in his real life pre-season stint with the Detroit Lions for his book, later film, Paper Lion (1968). Charlton Heston as aging pro Ron Catlan, trying to get one more season in Number One (1969). Burt Reynolds, chanelling Don Meredith experiences, as Billy Clyde Puckett in Semi Tough (1977). Mac Davis as Seth Maxwell, sharing girls with Nick Nolte in North Dallas Forty (1979).

And if you want to go in reverse, quaterbacks who turned into actors, how about former Rams QB Roman Gabriel as native American scout Blue Boy in The Undefeated (1969) with John Wayne, Rock Hudson and former Ram Merlin Olsen.

So many other, better, quarterback portrayals than what's listed here. Adam Sandler's portrayal of Paul Crew in the remake of "The Longest Yard" over the original portrayal by Burt Reynolds? Absolutely no mention of Zachry Levi as Kurt Warner in "American Underdog"? Based on a true story, to boot. How about Scott Bakula as Paul Blake in "Necessary Roughness"? Or even Dennis Quaid as Jack "Cap" Rooney in "Any Given Sunday"? Not to mention Warren Beatty as Joe Pendleton in "Heaven Can Wait"? I think the oldest movie on this list is "Any Given Sunday" (1999). Come on. Cinema / movies didn't just start 24 years ago.
