The Kingpin show
robert-1983810 January 2024
Kingpin is great in this episode, really enjoyable to watch his interactions with maya on screen. The tension and dialogue between the two charcaters Is interesting and well written, alot of visual story telling to describe the relationship between the two. Daredevil show fans will appreciate this episode alot more as it refers to elements from that show into this episode, mayas arc is beginning to develop alot more in this episode. Maya/Echo riding her bike is so sick, introduction of the episode is such a great kingpin moment but something you do see alot of in the trailer unfortunately although still it makes an excellent addition. I do hope this final episode is good enough to finish this 5 episode season as it has felt short but still enjoyable and a greater addition to the mcu than expected.

The King Is Back!
SHU_Movies10 January 2024
The highlight of this episode is quite easily Vincent D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk. He was such a sinister and attention-demanding presence as he gives one of the best performances in any live-action superhero project. His take on Kingpin in Marvel's Daredevil is a fan favourite, and it's incredible to see him back!

'Taloa' is a really good penultimate episode to Marvel Studios' Echo. It's nothing outstanding and I definitely have my problems with the story, but the characters, performances from the cast, the action and the soundtrack are all solid!

Aside from some issues with the story, pacing and script, it's been a really solid show! Hopefully the Series Finale is worth it!

Taloa

More flashbacks. This one opens in 2008 when Kingpin bashes an ice cream vendor to a pulp because he could not understand Maya's sign language.

Little Maya sees what has happened. Instead of being shocked seeing Kingpin covered in blood. She goes and gives the ice cream vendor a few kicks.

That is the start of a beautiful friendship where Kingpin is the surrogate father. Now maybe Kingpin knows that he and Maya both have some sort of super abilities.

He wants Maya to return to him, despite being shot in the eye by her.

Later Maya reunites with Chula. Only getting the sense that her grandmother left her with Kingpin.

The penultimate episode was at its best when Maya and Kingpin have their showdown. It dissipates once Vincent D'Onofrio leaves. Then it hits the ground with a dull thud.

Best episode so far!

Warning: Spoilers
Of course, Vincent Donofrio came in with all that acting power and blew my mind once again. You can feel the raw motion behind his character. You can tell how much Vincent Donofrio loves playing this role and I can't wait to see how they either pay this off in the finale or in the daredevil series. My major question right now is can they deliver on a satisfying ending for echo? I'm not sure if they can with only one episode left but I'm willing to be optimistic because of how much I've liked the show so far. Kingpin always felt that he had this kind of hold over Maya but now I think he realizes that she doesn't need him anymore. He manipulated her all his life and you could see him try to do it again and try to place sympathies. This was really shown where he told her to kill him with the hammer, he killed his father with, you know he knew that Maya was not going to kill him. Overall, I've liked the show now they just need to deliver on the finale which Marvel seems to have a hard time doing.

Episode 4

Warning: Spoilers
This show is an easy watch, it has that going for it, but it does not really seem like they thought this whole thing through. Maya wanted so badly to punish Fisk and then to take down every remnant of this empire, but then she is calmly conversing and having dinner with him? Just felt weird.

I like how they gave us a backstory, and almost succeeded in making Kingpin a sympathetic figure, but this does not pull everything together. Maya still acted poorly and with malice in some of the other Marvel projects.

But glad this had a binge drop and I look forward to seeing how it all wraps up next time.

Taloa

WOW! This episode got me so shocked! With Kingpin and Maya reunited! And that Maya's friend was helping her with her struggles. And I can't believe her Grandmother betrayed her. When I saw that she had left her hometown that got me thinking If she was going back to New York. If she was going there then maybe Matt Murdock/Daredevil could help her with her struggles and her past. Can't wait for the finale it's gonna be awesome. Maya is the Best character ever heck yeah I love the way they made her a good character and hero. Maybe she could be a Avenger alongside with Hawkeye and Kate Bishop too.

Man Uses Acting in Attempt to Extinguish Trash Fire

Warning: Spoilers
Lol What's with this show and cringe opening scenes? I think I get what they were trying to do with Kingpin's character, but why would anyone do any of the things that anyone did during this sequence? No one does anything logical until the opening credits are over. Just kidding, they don't stop doing nonsensical things.

Vincent is running the table in this episode, which doesn't make up for the main character's inability to make a second facial expression, but it's something. They're also using a lot less atrocious synthesizer, which makes this the 1st or 2nd best episode.

Lol the stupidity of Echo's powers. I really don't understand why they made this show (well I do, but you're only allowed to talk about it in absolutist terms, as a positive). The only compelling character in the series is Kingpin, and he was sitting out the first 3 episodes. Abandon ship, Vince! It's too far under water! Save yourself!

TOLOA

In Echo, Maya Lopez battles Wilson Fisk's criminal empire, believing he is dead. However, Fisk's relationship with his adopted niece is highlighted in the fourth episode, which is quieter and more interpersonally focused. Vincent D'Onofrio stars as Fisk, showcasing his return to form as the Kingpin of New York City, a character he battled in Daredevil. D'Onofrio is intimidating and domineering, exuding moments of hurt and care that hint at his troubled childhood. The episode could have been longer, as it sets the stage for the climax and finale in episode five. The episode features two emotional interactions for Maya involving Chula and Fisk, which mirror each other. While it works in providing a juxtaposition, it may have been better to have an additional episode or two to emphasize these interactions instead of rushing to the next scene. The screenplay of Echoes is a mix of murder mystery, thriller, and psychological chiller, with a chaotic and wild nature. The story begins with Leni calling out for Mattie, who is okay and heads off to say goodbye to her aunt. Charlie leaves, and Gina is presumed to be out of their lives forever. Leni is concerned about her sister's return. In the morning, a bush fire appears, but Jack and Leni go to check it out. It turns out to be a burning body, possibly belonging to Dylan James. Floss, a detective, points out that the body and truck were deliberately moved, and Dylan had a knife wound across his stomach, indicating he was killed before the truck was burned. Floss is suspicious of both Leni and Jack, who were both involved in the murder, but both are prime suspects due to their actions. The story continues to unfold, with the characters exploring the mysteries surrounding the murder. Jack admits to cutting his finger due to a disagreement with Towers and Payne, who owed him money. He threatens Leni and Mattie, but hasn't paid back the debts. Victor calls Leni to return home, but Jack is taken away. Evidence suggests Jack is the culprit, and ketamine is found in the truck. Leni's father blames her. A call from the hospital informs them that Leni has shown up, but it's Gina playing mind games again. Gina is gone, pulling out the IV and bolting. The tensions between the characters escalate as Jack's debts and stress pile up. Leni apologizes to Jack at the police station and learns about the family's financial troubles. Jack, a good friend, tried to get on Towers and Payne's good side, but the family fell into debt. They agree to speak the truth about stealing the horse and expressing innocence to Dylan's death. Gina claims that Towers and Payne are responsible for Dylan's death and after her. She urges Leni to meet Grandma Georgia at her house to protect her sister. Georgia is injured and tries to get Leni to hand over the 60k to them. However, Towers and Payne are unfriendly and consider using Leni as a bargaining chip. Leni manages to get herself out of trouble, pointing out that Jack is in the police station and could rat them out.

That night, Floss pulls Leni over and she is put under arrest for murdering Dylan. It turns out that Gina has been helping the police, including framing Leni. The police have pictures of Leni paying off Towers and Payne and the whereabouts for the murder weapon. The blade was found under the front seat of her car, raising questions about her true responsibility or if she has been set up.

S1.E4 - Pathetic Show [5/10]
panagiotis199313 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
(S1. E4) My Live Reaction / Review for Echo Season 1 Episode 4 ''Taloa''. The previous episode was mediocre and I gave it a rating of 6/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Fisk found a way to understand and do sign language? That's pretty cool. How Fisk was able to survive being shot in the head? Makes no sense. It's amazing that Fisk is willing to trust her after she shot him. I don't understand how everyone can use sign language. More and more boring conversations. These flashbacks with her ancestors makes the whole episode even more boring and annoying. Two many conversations, not much action. The only good thing about this show so far is D'Onofrio as Wilson Fisk and that's sad. It would be better if he wasnt part of this sad show. The episode is only 35 minutes long. 35 minutes of nothingness and it sucks. The plot is going nowhere. Overall the episode was mediocre and boring and I give it a rating of 5/10.
