Much Darker and Mature than its Predecessor
milleowe24 May 2024
I imagine this show has its problems already, but that didn't stop me from enjoying this next Mesozoic installment in the Jurassic franchise. People can expect to see a lot more gruesome and chilling moments, and a lot of action packed thrills.

Even if the series might be too dark for an audience of at least 8 years old, the character arcs have come full circle since Camp Cretaceous, with even more development to be found in a fully established cast.

If you don't like to get your socks scared off, this series may not be for you, but it will immediately be forgiven due to the immense growth all of the characters go through. I absolutely cannot wait for Season 2!

Shouldn't be for kids
katelynjohns4026 May 2024
I'm a 26 year old and have been into Camp Cretaceous since it came out. I was so pumped to see a new show with them as young adults. I LOVED it and was so pleased from start to finish. I'm a huge dinosaur fan and this show was very entertaining to watch, even though it's a cartoon aimed for children, I still believe anyone of any age can watch. It does not make you feel like you're watching a show for kids, there is a solid plot, and very good suspense scenes. The character development is great as well and it's so cool to be able to see the characters as their older selves. Also, BUMPY, so happy she's back and able to be reconnected with Ben. If you're hesitant to give it a go, don't be, the show is great.

Too mature for Y7
aislin247426 May 2024
As a show this is great. I watched in one afternoon. A good continuation in the Jurassic World theme. Characters are good and the story keeps you guessing. Continuing to give the dinosaurs personalities is a good way of telling the story with the main characters interacting with them.

But the themes are way too mature. People die including an adult close to one of the main characters. Characters often fear they would lose their lives or deal with the guilt of losing one of their own. Betrayal and verbal threats are part of the storyline. 9 to 7 are too young to be dealing with these themes on their own.

ITS PEAK
elikatrueblood25 May 2024
ITS PEAK.

The angst is amazing, so much more dark and mature compared to the old show. Chaos theory should definitely not be rated y7, but that otherwise the plot is amazing. A perfect amount of suspense, mystery, and drama which isn't aggravating to watch. The grief is real in the characters, and every episode is unpredictable with complicated character relationships and accurate representations of coping mechanisms with grief and loss. Also with the addition of actual terrifying characters? The lady with the micro bangs is going to actually give me nightmares.

Would highly, HIGHLY, recommend to watch. Although the camp cretaceous first series with five seasons may be a drag to watch, the results are with it. Me my friend and my sister all watched chaos theory premiere and were in awe. We may be well over the recommended age for this show, but it's just that good.

Huge improvment
azizbnoor24 May 2024
Wow. Just wow. This series has really captured my imagination on what dinosaurs and humans would do together since dominion didn't do that. This film also had many good dino fights and animated clips which were astonishing and extremely thrilling throughout the entire journey that were made out of joyful experiences with pure and raw excitement . This is a huge step up from camp Cretaceous season 5 and dominion. Good show and I hope they keep this running. There don't need to be any improvements just mainly improve the side human characters. The only reason this ain't a ten because it lacks the interest of human characters (side characters) which adds a dull factor into this review. However, overall, it is really good and a well received 9/10.

Improvement from the og show buy a lot
londonbmom27 May 2024
Watched this show back in 2022-23 with my friend wasn't terrible but the og show had a lot of issues but it did truly get better first few episodes are pretty slow kinda just like the og show but it got a whole lot more trilling from there sure it's predictable but me and my friends really enjoyed it even more then the first show from here the directors should work on making the show less predictable but i like the voice acting and mentions of trauma in the show not a huge fan of darius liking brooklyn but can't say i didn't see it coming. Yaz and sammy as a couple were kinda cringe to me in the og show but there very realistic and entertaining in this new show. Darius still just seems to refuse to tell his friends stuff but again got a lot better.

So cool but so dumb. Mindless entertainment, always with a "who's actually behind all this" twist.
Nineteen2027 May 2024
Sammy is the worst character possibly ever written into any show ever! Goodness...

Of course, all the characters are about as defined and developed as a two week old prune. Darius just can't seem to tell any of his best friends anything... really dude?!

I swear this should be way better than it is. How can these "kids" be this much older and still be as immature and clueless as they were as children. I suppose they're trying to capture the same young audience as the previous show but it fails in so many ways.

The antagonist weirdo chic (who appears to be robot) finishes this season unexplained, of course. Which is par for the course if you've watched Camp Cretaceous.

Finally, you won't be too surprised with hope this open ended finale concludes. Hoping for a better run-on when this returns.

Fantastic sequel to a fantastic show!
sjvscjfn29 May 2024
I loved Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous and this show really one-upped that one!

Like everyone else is saying, this show got a lot darker than the original ever did. That said, this show is definitely not for 7 year olds. Much darker material, with some more adult themes here and there.

The animation quality really improved between the two shows, and the same goes for the writers' ability to handle tense scenes. Had me on the edge of my seat at times!

I can't believe how much better this show is than the new movies. Seriously, HUGE difference. The plot is way more interesting than the third movie.

Can't wait for season 2!

Everything I wanted from this show and more
ItsTheCV30 May 2024
I know everyone has said this, but this show is much darker then Camp Cretaceous, which gives it a thrill we didn't quite see with that show. Mind you that doesn't mean any disrespect to Camp Cretaceous, which is still a very enjoyable show. But for a guy who has obviously grown since the show came, it was an awesome surprise to see how this show takes everything from that one and takes it up a lot of notches.

The casual chatter, the emotion, the heart beating fear, everything is actually incredible in this show. Give it to the actors for doing their best with this show.

And don't even get me started on the animation, some of the best I've seen out of Netflix shows like this one, the backgrounds are breathtaking, and even the characters are notched up to their best.

This is what I wanted to see out of Dominion that we never saw, actual normal lives being interrupted by dinosaur mayhem. Things we were all waiting for until that film came out, sad to see this show meet those expectations and not one of the big budget Jurassic Movies.

Overall, the show defiantly pays off for the longer wait they needed to make this show compared to the other seasons, and I completely recommend checking it out if you are a dinosaur enthusiast who watched the last show.

Didn't think a cartoon could make me cry
tavismelvin-1020730 May 2024
Oh man this was so good. Way better than then the last two Jurassic World movies. I started the first episode just to see where they were going with it and I was hooked for the entire night. Finished the whole season in one sitting. It's dark and all you want in a Jurassic movie. The story was compelling and you wanted to know more after every episode. It pulls at the heart string. Had me balling out some tears. 😭 and yes an animation show like this had me crying. It was just that damn good. I really wish this was an actual movie because this is what I wanted to see in theaters. Not sure how they got it right through animation but manage to messed it up with the Jurassic world movies. Definitely a must watch show. Trust me it's not for the little ones. It's pretty dark.

Chaos Theory Is Better And Worse!
raptorsanford26 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I just finished watching chaos theory, and I got to say it's way more darker than the original series. It feels way more brutal than the previous series and it feels a little more mature but this movie has some flaws. For example, the villain in this movie feels like of the main villain from how to train your Dragon two, where he's like thinks he's like a virgin dragon whisperer whatever so the villain does doesn't feel like she belongs in Jurassic Park franchise probably with my least favorite villain in Jurassic Park is probably her, and then there's "Brooklyn's death" her appearing at the end of the series, remove some of the steaks for the series whenever a series usually kills off a character. We all know it's Susie a way to raise the stakes and make you worried about other characters, but the series bringing back a character that they did that to makes it feel like you think they can't die which is something I just don't really like and I also don't know how I feel about her missing a hand I feel like it should be the whole arm if it's the Allosaurus that did that cause there's no way giant dinosaur that coming but if I had less if that was supposed to be the Atrociraptors that did that which I'm still not sure of who did that maybe that'll be explained in season two but I love the references to the man from the original Jurassic Park and then the original series of Camp Cretaceous, and I also love how all the characters feel the same, but they didn't change anything about the characters they all feel the same as they did from the original series. It felt like a good sequel to the original, while also expanding the Jurassic universe a little bit and it's a fun series to watch. Definitely will probably watching it again. It was fun and enjoyable, which is mostly what I ask from tv series and movies.

Season 1 Review: From a Camp Cretaceous Fan
dylanmarcy27 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Season 1 of Jurassic World: Chaos Theory is hard to review personally, because I loved the original series, Camp Cretaceous. This is despite the fact that I am not a fan of the Jurassic World trilogy, particularly the last 2 entries. The characters introduced in Camp Cretaceous have become some of my favorites, not just in the Jurassic Park franchise, but in film/TV shows on the whole. It's no secret that there's been a decline in writing quality in Hollywood over the past decade or so, but Camp Cretaceous' character writing felt like a breath of fresh air compared to a lot of what's come out in the big-budgeted franchises and series (i.e. Star Wars, Marvel, DC, Game of Thrones, etc.).

So how did they do with said characters? The first 9 episodes to me were better than I could've expected. Darius dealing with the loss of one of his closest friends, withdrawing from his family. Ben is a blend of his previously anxious self and his more assured confidence he gained during his time on the islands. Kenji was similarly withdrawn, and the emotional impact of his relationships with Brooklynn, Darius, and his father in particular, were really felt throughout the show. Sammy was a more evolved version of herself, where we saw more insight into why she keeps her bubbly persona. Last but certainly not least, Yaz had her prior trauma and PTSD explored further while keeping her a strong-minded character, which is something I praised the previous show for immensely.

The animation has taken a step up, as expected with time, and some of the dinosaur scenes were genuinely terrifying, something the latter two seasons (as much as I still appreciate them) were certainly lacking. The overall production quality as well had a more cinematic feel than CC, with shifting aspect ratios to indicate flashbacks, more intense musical scores, and higher detail on the dinosaurs all being improvements from the predecessor.

So what are my criticisms? Well first, the finale felt a little weak. I understand it's a show meant for kids that features dinosaurs, however the previous 9 episodes did a great job of balancing fun dino action with complex character moments. The finale simply did not, and it felt more like watching the ending of a Jurassic World or Kong V Godzilla movie than the Camp Cretaceous follow up. There will be more seasons to go through the characters, of course, but I hope the writers understand what makes these shows stand out. These two series have higher ratings on this site than any Jurassic Park sequel movie for a good reason, not just that they have dinosaurs.

Additionally, I didn't love the reveal that Brooklynn was alive the whole time. Again, I understand it was unlikely they were going to kill off a main character in this series, but there appeared to be little evidence throughout the runtime that she was actually alive. Perhaps if Ben had mentioned he had someone on Dark Jurassic mention to him they were being hunted, that could have been a clue that she was alive and trying to help her friends. I'll give the writers the benefit of the doubt because they've continued to impress me ever since season 1 of CC, but we shall see.

Overall can't complain much, especially after the trainwrecks that were Fallen Kingdom and Dominion. I'm curious to see where they go with these characters and how they'll tie Brooklynn back into the main story.

It Shouldn't Be For Kids
cjknightmare29 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Jurassic World: Chaos Theory is too dark to be for children. I'm 28, (I was 25 when I saw Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous for the first time) and as someone who's been a fan of the animated series, here's why. It got darker up to Season 3 because of the Scorpius Rex and its ruthless rampage all over Isla Nublar and nearly endangering the life of one of the Camp Fam members (Sammy Gutierrez), and as for Jurassic World: Chaos Theory it was pure dinosaur carnage and government human corruption (The DPW), going on. I do know that the Nublar Six are from being safe right now, it's not even gonna get anymore pleasant in Season 2 and another season down the road. They're on the boat and we're also gonna witness one of our proclaimed to be dead characters turn into someone we might not like.

Great show, but not for little children.
shohatjohnny26 May 2024
With its darker theme and story than it's predecessor, "Jurassic World: Chaos Theory"; is a worthy sequel to "Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous". While not perfectly grounded, the show takes on a darker and serious tone, especially for a TV show made for kids. The characters are very well developed, the plot is pretty good, and the animation is amazing.

However, I would not recommend showing this show to 7 year olds; this show is PG for two reasons: 1. The show has a lot of people getting killed.

Even though you don't see the death itself, you hear it and see the dinosaurs approachong the victims and hear their screams.

2. Some of the main characters have a gay relationship. Let's just say that Yas and Sammy still have a romantic relationship... And for a kids TV show, parents don't want to show their little children that...

And finally, the show, while it has a mostly darker setting, has some little scenes here and there that is cringe and doesn't match up with its setting making it less grounded; it's just cringe and unnecessary. Also, there is one character they should have spent a little more time with his development.

So, while the show isn't for little children, and there's some parts that parents wouldn't want to show their kids, it's definitely worth a watch if you like dinosaur movies; it's not just for kids.

Amazing Must-Watch
saaaphilly26 May 2024
The story continues 6 years later from Camp Cretaceous with the original characters. The story is well-written, the animation is great, the action keeps you watching, and the pacing keeps your attention.

This season (series?) is much more involved, mature, and darker than the previous ones but also has a lot of light-hearted moments that make for great continuity and connection to the characters from previous seasons. The mystery of it and the characters coming together really keeps the essence of the show while bringing something fresh to the storyline.

I honestly think at this point that adults might enjoy it more that children would due to the content and themes. Some action parts might be a little bit frightening for children who are a bit younger, especially with characters/dinosaurs jumping out and with loud noises. Some of the dinosaurs might look a bit scary. Younger children also might not understand the storyline as much since it tends to lean on the more mature side but it's still a good watch.

My only concern is the inclusion and continuation of the Yaz and Sammy romance. Since this is labeled as a show for kids on Netflix, I don't think parents will assume that LGBT themes would be included. The previous season included Sammy questioning her sexuality as a running theme (which is a topic that is too mature for this kind of show in my opinion). I personally think it's wrong to include it without adding some sort of notice for parents who would like to have a discussion with their children or wait until their children are of a certain age to discuss this topic with them. This was something that was not usually a concern some years ago so I could understand if parents assume that this theme would not be included in a show labeled for kids. This theme is more prominent than any other theme of romance in the show and the most outright one with the kissing and continuous conversation surrounding it. It didn't have to be included but also, while being included, it didn't have to be so obvious. It feels forced and even the relationship between Brooklynn and Kenji was so not outright and portrayed that way. It's just not appropriate for young children no matter what anyone's personal views are about relationships and sexuality.

Considering it all, it's an awesome show that I really enjoy watching as an adult. Overall, parents may want to be aware of that it might not be suitable for younger children due to some of the things I mentioned above but for older teens and adults, I think it's a great watch and high-quality animated series! Definitely entertaining!

Everything about this show was incredible! The storyline is amazing! You felt more connection to the original characters and cares more for them. The quality of the animation has improved and Is movie quality. Unlike the last show, which felt like it lost its shine in the last season, I couldn't stop watching this show! I needed to know what happens next, I became a bit addicted. The story and scenes are much darker and more intense too! I wouldn't say it's for a younger audience under 7 years old. Can't wait for more as long as it stays on the same path it's on and they keep the same writes onboard.

LIFE CHANGING
horpcenna28 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
"Jurassic World: The Chaos Theory" is a triumph of storytelling, a masterclass in world-building, and a testament to the power of imagination. Written by Christie Golden, this novel is a prequel to the 2015 film "Jurassic World", and it's a must-read for fans of the franchise. With its complex characters, intricate plot, and pulse-pounding action sequences, "The Chaos Theory" is a 10/10 novel that will leave readers breathless and begging for more.

One of the standout aspects of "The Chaos Theory" is its ability to humanize the characters. Claire Dearing, the protagonist, is a particularly well-crafted character, her determination and drive expertly counterbalanced by her vulnerability and fear. The supporting cast is equally well-written, with memorable performances from the likes of Owen Grady and Simon Masrani. The way these characters interact with each other, the subtle dynamics and conflicts that arise, is a testament to Golden's skill as a storyteller. The characters are so well-developed that it's easy to become fully invested in their struggles and triumphs.

But it's not just the characters that make "The Chaos Theory" shine - it's the world-building. The novel takes place in a fully-realized universe, one that's rich in detail and history. The way Golden brings the park to life, from the lush vegetation to the intricate machinery, is nothing short of breathtaking. The sense of immersion is palpable, making it easy to become fully invested in the story. The park is a character in its own right, with its own history and motivations. The way it's used as a backdrop for the action is expertly done, adding depth and complexity to the narrative.

The dinosaurs, of course, are the real stars of the show. From the majestic Tyrannosaurus Rex to the cunning Velociraptors, each species is meticulously researched and brought to life in vivid detail. The action scenes are pulse-pounding and intense, with a sense of realism that makes it easy to believe you're right there in the midst of the chaos. The way Golden uses the dinosaurs to advance the plot is masterful, creating tension and suspense that keeps readers on the edge of their seats.

But what really sets "The Chaos Theory" apart is its ability to explore complex themes and ideas. The novel delves into issues like ethics, responsibility, and the consequences of playing God. It raises questions about the morality of creating and controlling living creatures, and whether we have the right to do so. These themes are woven throughout the narrative, adding depth and complexity to an already engaging story.

In terms of pacing, "The Chaos Theory" is expertly done. The story unfolds at a breakneck pace, with each chapter ending on a cliffhanger that leaves readers desperate to know what happens next. The tension builds slowly but surely, culminating in a thrilling climax that will leave readers breathless.

In conclusion, "Jurassic World: The Chaos Theory" is a 10/10 novel.

Exciting new chapter to the CC story
kunj-1754028 May 2024
Warning: Spoilers
It is a very well made show and great new chapter to the Camp Cretaceous story. Plus the creators have given a good thought on how the characters grow up. They have added the difficulty of relationships with each other and they have shown perfect futures for all of them. After the death of Brooklynn the way they cope up with it is really on point according to their personalities. The dino part is finally back rather than AI Super robots in the previous season and these are even better too. The only part I feel was out of place was Darius falling Brooklynn and on top of that it being the reason he was not there the night she died, it felt pretty stupid for someone like Darius to miss such an important thing due to that reason. Plus i really think it should have been someone else who died instead of B, she was my favourite 😭. But only she being dead would have made the plot of the show possible.
