- This film is about a TWA pilot who became a drug runner as well during the 1980s. Smuggling cocaine is the central part of the story.

- The War on Drugs and the Central American insurgencies are the backdrop to the story, in which the scenes can be tense. However, the related violence is not shown.
- In the end of the movie Barry Seal die, it is quite unexpected.
