Once-promising XXX auteur Jacky St. James (see: "Torn" or her "Emma Marx" features) serves up an ultra-yawner with "Spicing Up the Marriage", which sounds more like a 1930s roadshow exploitation movie than 21st Century cutting-edge Adult Entertainment. It doesn't even live up to that dumb title.
Even Jacky's hokey narration fumbles this time. Her four vignettes are supposedly narrated by the actors involved, giving a personal, almost confessional tone to the proceedings. But inexplicably, for the last segment instead of lovely actress Jillian Janson chiming in, it is Jacky's own distinctive voice-over pretending to be Jillian. Before you object and give me the standard "who cares?" reaction, I care about all these details -that's why I take the time to add titles and thousands of credits to IMDb as well as my personal reviews. Jacky's voice doesn't sound at all like the speaking voice of Jillian during the acting part of the segment, and in the lengthy interviews on the BTS short subject Jacky's voice rings out for even neophytes to recognize.
But the main problem here is that the sex filler, all newly shot for this video, doesn't bother to actually conform to the premise. What we see in the lovemaking, clearly geared towards Jacky's would-be Couples audience, is not spiced up. To wit, opening segment has beautiful Natalia Starr and Jacky regular, but clearly walking through his assignment, Richie trading off every Tuesday to surprise each other with something or other. The surprise shown is nonexistent, merely Natalia wearing sexy underthings and humping her hubby. Now if she had dragged along her sister Natasha for a 3-way (see their doing just that to Mr. Pete in an excellent Sweet Sinner video) that would have been a surprise and a change of pace.
Similarly, lovely, fragile looking Cosima Knight and hubby of two years Ryan McLane both feel they've settled into a routine, but what we see as the cure is 100% routine. I must have missed something during this soggy segment.
Logan Pierce does try out something new supposedly - he's a photographer so he sets out to shoot erotic photos of wife Jade Nile. We don't see any of this, just watch the very cute Riley Reid-esque Jade hump him.
The aforementioned finale starring Jillian has big-dicked Chad White and her making out in the gym where they regularly workout. I guess that's a switch, assuming they never thought of it before during their repetitive workouts together.
Sum takeaway is that JSJ is operating a minor bait & switch here - gonzo sex with this talent lineup isn't significantly different than her fake story lines as presented. And positing the whole thing as "within marriage" is almost an oxymoron with the notion of "spicy" entertainment, whether we're viewers in the 1930s or present- day.
