I remember "Praise You" very well, the truly successful Fatboy Slim song as well as the music video and the people dancing in there. However, when I watched it back in the last millennium I had no idea who the lead dancer was. It was not only the director of this almost 4-minute long video, but it was Spike Jonze. Still fairly unknown back then, he would go on to direct and write some really famous movies and recently he even received his first Academy Award. But back to this little movie. It's very retro, looks like from the 1970s and has a couple people dancing (well more like jumping around) with everybody else watching this awkward scene. The song is pretty catchy and fits very nicely to what we see because the music video is as absurdly funny as it gets. No real greatness, but a decent watch and I recommend it.

A perfect video

As a young child, my grandmother, a dancer (or more specifically, a classically trained ballerina), would show me this video and no less than cry from laughing every time. I didn't understand what was so funny. I honestly think I still don't. But from watching Spike Jonze's big productions like Her, Being John Malkovich, and The Beastie Boys Story, making the connection that is Spike Jonze makes more sense than anything else in this world. The artistic value is always priceless with Jonze, and Praise You is a perfect reminder of that. Dancing - 10/10. Crowd control - 10/10. Song - 10/0.

Warning: Spoilers
This video was very groundbreaking and was filmed in the front of the Fox Bruin Theater in Westwood, Los Angeles, and it's hard to believe it debuted 25 years ago, yes a quarter of a century ago, wow. Anyway, here the fictional Torrance Community Dance Group" does an awesome improvisational dance to Fatboy Slim's "Praise You". Spike Jonze leads the dancing and he tries to mollify the angry Theater manager who shuts down the dancing, but thankfully the dancing resumes much to the approval of the audience. Anyway, Praise You stands tall amongst the annals of music videos for sure, 25 years on init.
