The Tam Turbulence
bobcobb30118 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Sheldon is at his best when he is fighting with a rival, whether it be Mr. Wheaton, or Tam here tonight.

This is a strong season, but they just need to address the female characters. Week after week their storylines are disappointing and their scenes unfunny.

Eye opening episode.

This is my opinion. This shows how petty Sheldon can be. He is still holding a grudge against his childhood Tam because he moved away to go to school. Totally selfish.

Raj and Tam, Tam and Raj
Hitchcoc30 November 2021
Not much to say here. More people meddling in other people's business. There's something rather unattractive about the woman Raj is engaged to. She is from a totally different world. Tam was Sheldon's friend in school but something happened to mess up their friendship. Just another bland episode.

Finally Figured Out Why This Episode Was Made
lokemoen-4440820 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
This episode is weird. It introduces a character from left field as if he will be important to the show, yet he never appears again. It finally occurred to me that Tam must be a character from Young Sheldon that they're retconning in. I kinda love BBT, but simply cannot sit through an episode of YS, so I forget that show exists.

So the retcon/fixup could be clumsy, but could be an opportunity for some goofy insider laughs. The writers went hard for clumsy and hit it right on the nose. The premise of booting Leonard out of his own show was unfunny, and they shoe-horn Tam into an unearned, leaden "emotional" goodbye.

Anu is written as a grating, heartless lump who is a terrible mismatch for soft-hearted Raj. It was a mistake to give the character as much screen time as she gets, and she puts a solid dent in this episode.

Retcon fixups usually stink, and this is an unremarkable one of those, with a side dish of worst character in the series. Literally skippable.
