Hilarious

I thought the episode was great! The two couples imitated each other so perfectly! My only disappointment was that Penny should have dressed up as 'Penny' from 'Inspector Gadget'...

Amy just killed as Bernadette
VBeretta4 August 2023
I always thought that Mayim Bialik's talents were never truly used in her run on TBBT. She often showed how she could have been able to do much more with a character saddled with the "plain & boring" stereotype. Here we saw an example of peak Mayim.

So, Howard dresses as Sheldon for Halloween. In retailation, Sheldon and Amy dress as Howard and Bernadette. Of all the imitations, Amy as Bernadette is a whole level over the rest. The way she nails the character is scary - helium-boosted voice included. It is also clear that Mayim is having the fun of her life (Simon Helberg as Sheldon too, but, IMHO, his was more a parody; Mayim just became Bernadette).

What I didn't like in this episode is how deadly serious were the reactions by everyone. It was a callback to one of the earliest episodes, when Penny explains in strong words to Howard what a failure of a man he is. TBBT is not about this. Characters already get angry, make gaffes, end up humiliated (big time), only to recover and forge on. That should be enough. Here we are assisting to something that could lead to a real break up in friendships. I don't watch this show for this.

Yet, this leads to the conversation between Sheldon and Bernadette, the first really intimate one between them. When Bernadette says that Sheldon can't know what means to be the smallest person in the room Sheldon, quite correctly, points out how he knows, because he went to high-school when he still was a kid. The whole scene is a nice one and the saving grace of the episode.

(BTW, if Howard dresses as Sheldon, he and Bernadette have no right to complain if Sheldon and Amy do the same thing to them; just my 2 cents).

Boy, Some People Are Awfully Serious
Hitchcoc1 December 2021
When I see that this episode was rated above an 8 it surprises me that most of the reviewers can't see beyond their own agendas. Yes, Howard was a bit cruel in trying to be Sheldon at Halloween. He regretted it and changed to a different costume for the party. Bullying! Really! One questionable judgment isn't bullying and if one is contrite about it, let it go. There were some very funny moments here.

Best episode in quite a while!
otter6826 October 2018
I can't remember when I laughed so much at a TBBT episode. The imitations were hilarious, and love it when Bernadette gets called out for being so mean. Bernadette being mean is never funny. I hope the laughs continue like this for the rest of the series.

Best episode in last couple seasons
pkpera29 October 2018
Well, this was finally a positive surprise - much better than average ep. of last couple seasons. Imitations were hilarious, and I liked especially talk between Bernadette and Sheldon near to end. I felt while watching this like felt when watched early seasons. Well deserved 10.

So funny.
Scar389 October 2022
This is one of the funniest episodes of all, when they dressed up as each other they pulled it of perfectly, it was truly hilarious.

Howard is so funny and very good at impressions.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, every character in the show is so funny, Sheldon, Leonard, Howard, Raj, Penny, Amy, Bernadette, Stuart, Kripke, Zach, all of Raj's girlfriends, and all of the cameo appearances have been so good and so funny it's made every episode so so great.

And omg how beautiful is Kaley Cuoco? She is so radiant and such a good actress, to think she nearly didn't get the part of Penny.

This is a sitcom, not a civics class
znxjcntc6 January 2024
Had to try to balance some of the negative reviews. To the people who called it offensive: get over yourselves. It's a situation comedy, meant to make you laugh. I thought Howard, Amy and Sheldon all did a hilarious job imitating their friends. To the people who called that bullying: people rag on their friends, it's normal behaviour. Not to mention it's the plot line for probably 80% of sitcoms, and certainly at least half of The Big Bang Theory. You belittle actual bullying (which of course is a real problem and should not be tolerated) by freaking out about this. Easy to sit at home typing and complaining about tv shows, I guess.

Kids anyone?
bettysgirl26 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
This episode had its moments. Definitely laughed at their impressions of each other. But can anyone tell me where Howard & Bernadette's kids are?? They have two young children that are never shown. Somehow H/B are always able to hang out without having their kids around. Why even make them have kids if they're never going to add them to any episodes? Maybe it's just me...

Clearly the last season
Barry016927 October 2018
The writers have given up apparently. If their goai is to make us hate the characters, they are doing a great job. Sheldon and Amy were just bitchy this episode. Amy has always been reasonable, but since she and Sheldon married, they are both insufferable.

So glad TBBT has run its course.
coachanthony7923 December 2020
Aaaaaannnnnddddd Sheldon and Amy continue to be annoying. So old. Others have posted before about the lack of creativity and originality since season 9 and I now agree. I started losing interest during season 8, found 9 to be better overall, but 10 and 11 just too often predictable. Now, season 8 did have some episodes that I rated at 9, but it also had some that I rated 6 or lower. For season 9, I think I rated almost every episode a 7 or 8, but then seasons 10 & 11 were so blah.

Anyway, I had never watched any of seasons 11 or 12 until this Fall - what a struggle watching them, LOL! And where are Howard and Bernadette's kids? Really would have made some of the shows better had we seen real kids.

Most Overrated Episode of Season 12
magicastor1 October 2021
I Seriously think an 8.3 is way too high. This episode is not that good. For starters Bernadette dares Howard to dress up as Sheldon for Halloween, fine; Sheldon does not instantly get the joke. Later Amy finds Sheldon is upset and decides you know what we'll get our revenge by doing the same to them.

This episode shows that you shouldn't dish it if you can't take it. Giving my rating of 6/10

*Decent at best*

Finally more than 1/10
julienh29 October 2018
I'm so glad there's finally an episode which I can rate more than 1 out of 10! It's kind of sad, however, that it's all due to Simon Helberg's acting performance as Sheldon. Were it not for that, this episode would be a flat 1 out of 10 yet again.

Penny and Leonard fight yet again because they don't match as a couple, and even though they have a sweet moment at the end, it can't save their messed up marriage.

Raj and his horrible fiancé don't merit any mentions, he doesn't have any depth of character left whatsoever and she is just an irritating noise. Honestly, her only purpose is to be someone Raj can end up with so he doesn't die alone, no matter how horrible she is as a person.

Sheldon and Amy took it a step too far as usual, Amy could have just let it go but no, she has to take sides and insult Bernadette in the lowest possible way. I used to just not care about her, but now, I've started to hate her. Sheldon's apology to Bernadette was as usual not an apology at all since he doesn't even know that he's in the wrong, and quite frankly, this concept already got old after six seasons. How people can still laugh about it after eleven seasons is beyond me.

So there you go, the only good thing in this episode was the performance of Simon Helberg. The rest was a regular 1 out of 10 at best.

The Imitation Perturbation
bobcobb3012 November 2018
Warning: Spoilers
I have complained about the show repeating premises for too long of its run, but at this rate I would have preferred a rehash.

Wolowitz did not do a good Sheldon impression and it should have ended after one scene.

Bullying is a real world topic that a sitcom like this could use as a teaching moment. Unfortunately this episode missed the mark completely.

Be Kind not bullying
sharonphoenix28 June 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The characters of Sheldon & Amy go to their friend's party to bully 2 of their other friends. Awful episode. If Sheldon was the smart character he's supposed to be he would Have learnt Emotional Intelligence years ago. Disappointing episode as Amy normally doesn't allow Sheldon to be mean

Offensive beyond belief
gdump27 October 2018
BBT just jumped the shark. I have found many of their episodes offensive over the years but this one goes too far. This show just got deleted from my watchlist.
