No dialogue in this one, just very effective sound effects and some eerie music. The acting by the one person is very well directed, the camera angles are pretty clever and do a damn good job with the suspense. If you haven't seen this short, do yourself a favor and go watch it on their youtube channel, it will take you no more than 20 minutes to watch, it really is a tiny gem which more horror fans should know about.

The movie was absolutely awesome! I loved it! The visual effects and the makeup on the monster was great. For a short movie i think that it was one of the best and could became a big movie. The camera operator took so good shots but the weather i think also helped them to create those fantastic scenes.

I hope turn it into a big movie!

Pretty good film. Highly recommended.

I just watched this film during midnight with 100% volume with my headset, closed the lights and the door of my room. I have to admit that it was pretty scary especially in the end of the episode. The only negative from me is that it was just a bit boring in some scenes. It would be much better to speed the plot a bit in these scenes ( in the beginning). Also, i believe that you could have make the last scene even scarier :)

To conclude, it was a really interesting and scary film and i recommend it to anyone who likes that genre of movies. Congratulations Unboxholics for this movie.

The cinema's industry in Greece is at low point making for the most part dumb romantic comedies(I want to threw up) or what we call social movies ,really man ,really ,that is beyond dump and offensive to the film making process in general.

However in the internet my country ,goes very well, more than that it thrives with countless talented ,funny Youtubers ,who make an incredible variety of material. And Lurking Near is with out a doubt such a product and more than that it is the very first film (though a short one) of the horror genre produced here. The channel from which was made is called Unboxholics and for the most part the guys do critics against video-games and technology stuff in general and make comedy . Granted it is a common true that good comedians have a dark side which they rarely show and Lurking Near is exactly that .

To the video it self, we follow a man who goes for work in the woods and after a while finds out that he isn't alone. And then suspense that would make Hichkock proud, pitch perfect camera, sound and environment use. Also all this about 21 minutes film is dialogue free, so all the emotions must come out from body language and the protagonist doesn't disappoint.

Over all this film shows that without a lot money, material and with dedication and organization go can get something good, even excellent. To the Unboxholics keep the good work and who know one day, a feature film from Greece will take elements from you and finally break the cycle of disappointments

What's lurking and why would we care?

"Lurking Near" is a Greek 2017 movie and this one was actually only released days before I am writing this review today and it scored quite a strong reception on Youtube in terms of likes and clicks. The director is Alexandros Karpas and lead actor as well as one of the writers is his twin brother Sakis. There is no dialogue at all in this 20-minute film, so you can watch it without subtitles no matter where you are from and which languages you are fluent in. But why would you? It's a really forgettable piece to be honest. We watch a man in the woods and the unseen danger aspect is really not brought in convincingly here at all. It was relatively boring I must say. And honestly, by the end when finally something really happens I lost all interest already and couldn't care less. Baffled by the other reviews here and also the overall rating. Not sure how sincere it is. Anyway, this review comes from somebody who totally loves the film "The Blair Witch Project". Horror films about unknown/unseen dangers and villains (with absolutely zero slasher elements) are exactly my liking usually. Sok it is pretty shocking that despite my positive bias for the genre I found this one really underwhelming. Chances are good you will like it even less than I did. Acting's mediocre, but honestly Karpas has not too much to work with anyway. Overall, there is not a single component that stands out during this third of an hour. It's mediocre at best, entirely forgettable sometimes too. Stay away.

I believe this is a bit positively biased review.

This is a short movie made my the "Unboxholics" team, a Greek YouTube channel. In my opinion this channel produce one of the best quality contents in Greece but this film was a bit disappointing.

It is atmospheric, has a couple of good shots and quite good photography and cinematography but it lacks in scenario. It is "advertised" as a horror short movie but honestly, there was no suspense, no originality and nothing really scary.

If you take into consideration the way it was made and the team's background this is a really good try but if you disregard these there are many much better short movies out there.

I expect and hope that in the future they will produce more and better short movies!
