Who's Gabriel
bobcobb3014 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The camerawork during the debate made me think that Marisol was going to get shot here. Glad she wasn't, but the ending certainly made me think this is still possible.

The show made a jump way too quickly, first with the detective admitting what happened and the lawyer getting on board. It all seemed to happen too quickly.

But the show is interesting and I really have no idea what will happen next.

The Little Love Birds
lavatch28 August 2018
Warning: Spoilers
The Little Love Birds may refer to the cartoon at the start of the episode, which is an allegory on young Marisol and Gabriel. The love birds may also be Marisol and Billy in a beautiful ocean-side restaurant followed by a weekend adventure to get away from the stress of L.A. At least, that is what Billy believes.

The FBI agent Jeff understands that Julio's case is much more complicated, but will not reveal details to Billy and Patty. Finally, Patty has a date with Jeff in which she delivers a monologue designed to turn him off. Instead, they end up dancing romantically.

Roman finally agrees to be a snitch in return for immunity and placement in a witness protection program. He, his wife Mary, and the two kids are placed in a motel room with a guard. Mary is outraged by the turn of events.

The walls are closing in on Tom Wyatt, Danny Loomis, and Marisol, especially when it becomes clear that Julio is about to be released from prison. Tom has ingratiated himself with Brittany, who is introduced to Tom's leg fetish. Danny is now fearful of his life. Marisol dismisses her loyal assistant Elena and hints that she will drop out of the mayoral race. But, curiously, she lures Billy to the meeting with Gabriel. A weekend getaway to Rosarita is not what BIlly had in mind.

The best episode so far, but still...

Who's Gabriel doesn't seem such a big mystery to me, since everything is explained at the beginning of this episode. Marisol and Gabriel grew up together and they both belong to criminal families. So what's the mystery?

Now Gabriel is the big psycho boss of the gang and blackmailing people to do what he wants, although to me it's not clear why Marisol is running for mayor, just to be a puppet in Gabriel's hands. Would you accept to have all your life manoeuvred by some criminal?

What is even more muddled is the Julio plot. Why is it so important that Julio is incriminated for a rather irrelevant double murder? Nobody explained that, yet. More explanation maybe is to follow, but so far the Julio plot is completely nonsensical.

Also, a lot of romance going on, between mega creep Tom and Brittany (quite disturbing), Patty and Jeff (kind of the only real romance) and Billy and Marisol and she's such an hypocrite and liar to make it almost revolting to watch.

The Screws Are Tightening
Hitchcoc19 June 2018
Gabriel, the baddest of the bad, is putting the pressure on everyone around him. He is in total control of everyone, including the psychotic Tom. Billy's feelings for Marisol are natural. And we can see that she is conflicted. But when push comes to shove, she is in the pocket of some awful characters. Keith realizes what a mistake he has made and is now seen as a traitor. Julio is in a protective cell, imagining he will be released soon. All the nastiness that can be is coming to the fore. Well crafted and frightening episode.
