REEDLEY, Calif. (FOX26) - UPDATE, July 11, 2018. 5:17 p.m.: The Reedley Police Department and the Fresno County Sheriff's Coroner's Office has now released the cause of the death in a murder-suicide involving a mother and her two children.
According to an autopsy, 32-year-old Vera Lucia Diaz Nunez died by hanging and her death has been ruled a suicide. As for her 21-month-old daughter and 4-year-old son, it was determined that both drowned in the bath tub at the apartment.
Reedley Police say that when officers arrived on the night of July 9th, both children were found lying on the floor in the bathroom. A further investigation revealed that the two had been removed from the bathtub by their father, who found them when he got home from work. Vera Nunex Diaz had hanged herself in an adjacent bedroom and she was cut down and laid on the floor by her husband before police arrived.
Police have determined that Vera Diaz Nunez drowned her 4-year-old son and 21-month-old daughter in the bathtub, and then went into the bedroom and committed suicide.
