It Never Rains in Southern California...
songod-950031 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
...until the last scenes of the last episode. Yes that old hit from the 70's began playing in my head as soon as the rain started.

A strange and somewhat unsatisfying season. I appreciate what was trying to be done here with the drugged out bizarre head trips, quirky soundtrack (though a few bars of the aforementioned song would have been neat), and the cast of characters. Yet it failed to excite like seasons one and two. Never once did I feel a sense of dread or real danger. If I had concerns, like real blackmail footage of Billy during his lost drug induced blackout visit a year prior to Blackwood's casino, it played out to be nothing. Nada.

Of the Super Villains I attested to in a prior review only Cooperman is left standing. Everyone else is dead or wishing they were. And with everyone gone, only Stephanie is left to take over Blackwood and pay the winners their compensation. No doubt she will.

So all is fine in the end, eh? Not quite. We are set up for a fourth already confirmed season. I just hope it does not involve any of the still alive characters (Cooperman, Silva) and brings Billy to a new challenge with no luggage (not even crazy whatshername) other than his own.

SEASON 4?!?! PLEASE!!!!
Deana9118 October 2019
Season 3 was definitely a redemption for the shows horrid season 2, now I just hope they can continue the momentum and come back with a great season 4! Unfortunately I binged all 3 seasons at once and dread having to wait 16 to 24 months or more to find out if the storyline and characters have more great things to be fleshed out for us!

Just finished 3 season and Billy always does the same... for a cliffhanger he gets shot so the audience maintians their concert for the main caracter. For S4 now he gets in the Bad Santa for real and i talking about the bourdel stuff in L.A.

We love Goliath! It just keeps getting better and better. Great actors, storylines and very entertaining. We binged season 3 on the day of release and the next evening. Great job! Can't wait for season 4!

Strong, satisfactory finish....

Warning: Spoilers
Some of the middle episodes had me wondering if director and writer had lost of track main narrative and themes. But what seemed like diversions in the middle episodes, contributed to big payoffs in the last two episodes. I would think that the ending very satisfactory for fans of show, for fans of McBride posse. As throughout the series--as well there should be in a story about California and water--bows to, and borrowings from, the movie "Chinatown"--especially one viragos vehicular demise.

I haven't really been a big Dennis Quaid fan, but I was blown away by his performance in this series. Good performances all the way around. This is about as good as it gets these days

ONE OF THE BEST SEASON FINALES EVER!!!
makemepretty17 September 2020
No spoilers here... can't wait for next season!! Not sure how so many people have left negative reviews over the last couple seasons - all three are weaved together so nicely in this finale. I actually love the vibe of David Lynch + Hunter S. Thompson that we were treated to! Tremendous acting by all, but I could watch the character Patty Solis-Papagian ALL DAY!

Weird season
jeroen-10617 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A strange and not very satisfying season. A lot seemed to be unnecessary and contrived, many story elements made no sense.

Just as an example; why did the motorcycle girl happen to find Diana in her car? There's so much involved leading up to an event like that in real life. Why the drugs? They didn't add anything to the season. Many coincidental events too.

It wasn't terrible - the acting generally was great. I love Patty in particular. Lots of humor in her character which make her serious and vulnerable side come out so well. Fantastic.

Next season I hope to be more grounded in more simple, better better written cases.

That Last Face You See!

Only significant if he actually dies, right. But this was a bit of a mind bending season. I found this final episode to be quite satisfying. It was because ultimately it stuck to serious plot elements. Maybe too many things worked out for the better, but that's OK. Contrivances aren't alway bad. There were some very good performances and some really complex characters butting heads with Mr. McBride. I had watched the first episode several months ago and dismissed it. I had an evening and needed to kill some time. Got hooked. Looking forward to Season 4 whenever it comes.

Playing in the dirt
TheFearmakers4 October 2019
What's the talkiest season of Goliath ends with a bang or two, and the climax of the last episode and beginning of this one cements the fact that this is CHINATOWN in cable miniseries mode. Which is already been repeated and repeated but in time, if Season Three doesn't become the "Chinatown Season" then something's off, or someone doesn't know their classic cinema. Either way the finale is a bit rushed and farfetched; then again so were all the crazy things leading up...

The villains, Dennis Quaid and his twisted new age sister, are desperate and pathetic more like action-movie villains. If you ever get around to seeing the series Wiseguy, where Kevin Spacey got his start as a twisted bad guy with a more twisted sister, that show might also be a similar homage, and both are on Amazon. Strangely enough, this season of Goliath is the most unoriginal the show's ever been, and somehow, it still seems and feels brand new. It was a fun, decent binge, but far from expectations.

Joy Division
bobcobb30123 December 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I was hoping this very odd third season would give us an explosive finale, but we got anything but. They forced a tie-in to the first two seasons, and no one really got justice.

If the show comes back for a fourth cycle it needs to be better than this.

Better than you think.
csteinmayer-251415 June 2020
Wired episodes? Yes. Awesome dialog and acting? Yes. Plumbing the depths of solid acting? You bet. But seriously, session 2 was a bit of from season 1. Season three, makes up for it. Looking forward to season 4.
