Sky is now no longer owned by the Murdoch empire. However if Brassic was shown on the BBC, the Murdoch owned Sun newspaper would had been frothing in the mouth with all the bad language.

However since it is shown on Sky and commissioned when Murdoch controlled Sky, the newspaper will uphold it as an example of the cutting edge shows the channel makes. I note the Daily Mail has seemingly kept quiet about Brassic as well. The hypocrisy of the British press, don't you just love it.

Created by Daniel Brocklehurst who wrote some episodes of Shameless. This is heavily inspired by Shameless as well as Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrels and maybe even a more earthy expletive laden Last of the Summer Wine with young people.

Set in a Lancashire town such as Bacup. The first episode is very much about best friends Vinnie (Joseph Gilgun) and Dylan (Damien Molony) who live a life of low level crime. Vinnie is worried about his receding hairline, he is bipolar and grows weed in a ramshackle shed in the country. Dylan is trying to live a normal life with his former wild child girlfriend Erin (Michelle Keegan) but he always get pulled by Vinnie's hare brained schemes.

In the first episode they are asked to steal a Shetland pony, the gang steal a light coloured one so they then need to dye it. It was the sort of hijinx that was once deemed funny in Quadrophenia when condoms were used as gloves so they would not leave fingerprints behind.

It is a faux northern comedy drama with bad lads, gangs and a sex dungeon. The first episode got good reviews from the press, who probably think this is how life is like up north with feral men and women. It all rang false to me. A good example was Dominic West as an unconcerned GP who was more interested in dating sites and showing pictures of his todger to Vinnie. It started off promisingly enough, it tailed off rather quickly.
