7/10
Unpredictable drama. with twists and turns.

The film is dark and confusing for awhile, then it starts to make sense as the characters come to life. Sarah Roemer delivers a wonderful performance as Madison Walker, a young woman with a severe personality disorder caused by an overly religious, mentally ill, abusive mother. You have to pay attention because much is revealed in flashbacks. The story is unpredictable and engrossing. Elizabeth Shue plays Dr.Barnes, a psychologist who tries to help Madison. Set in New Orlean's French Quarter, the film has a spooky and surreal edge to it at times. Erin Kelly as Grace once again is enticing someone to smoke cigarettes and partake in other vices. Waking Madison is well written and acted, and is certainly worth watching once or twice.
