Absolutely Dire
kevinmorice22 September 2015
I wonder if the writers actually remember why they were hired almost a decade ago. I wonder why the cast have so little integrity that they are willing to take the money to produce such tripe. I wonder why the studio are still giving them money. I wonder why they don't just grab this opportunity to turf Amy out of the show and go back to the original premise. I wonder how long I am going to be made to sit through this series before we finally give up hoping that they might turn it back to what they did in the first three series. I wonder how many more lines I have to write in order to get this review approved since I have already put more effort into writing this than the script team on this episode.

Meager Fare

Possibly the most disappointing episode ever. After waiting so long for Leonard and Penny to finally marry, the episode delivered a charcoal sketch of what should have been an attempt at a master work. The entire effort of the writers seems to have been to get passed the wedding so they could get to the post-nuptial discord.

With this storyline, the writers can now unite Leonard and Sheldon against Penny and Amy and drag out all the relationship clichés. I hope they at least take a moment to dust off the clichés before shoving them center stage. I think everyone has had enough of the on-again off-again disconnect between Penny and Leonard, and by extension, do not want a rehash with Sheldon and Amy.

A "new start" motif would have been a general relief, but that opportunity has been lost. As others have noted, perhaps The Big Bang Theory has "jumped the shark".

Total waste of time.
lomaran-122 September 2015
Without giving too much away for those who haven't watched it yet: it made a mockery of marriage. Granted it is a sitcom, but it wasn't written to be funny. It was just painful! Even Howard and Bernadette's wedding, which I thought dumb, had more feeling and meaning. It was a waste of an episode. Nothing funny. Leonard blew it by confessing, Penny over reacted (as usual), and Sheldon was SUPER annoying. Lazy writing. I have given up on hoping for something better from these writers. I still don't understand how they're going to keep it going. It's not the relationships, per-se. Nerds can certainly have girlfriends and Amy and Bernadette are kind of science nerds. It's just the writing. Again, lazy.

Can it still go downhill from here ?
papamomottechat22 September 2015
Season 8 was bad enough, but this first episode of season 9 has made this show drop beneath mediocre.

The writing is lazy in every aspect. The once upon a time better feature of this show, a certain sense of humor and repartee, is either inexistent now, or should only attract people whose idea of a good joke is farting in someone's face. Éven the rather geeky references are simply not relevant any longer. Uninspired enough so that even the stupidest, least educated viewers will "get it". More meat for publicity ...

In fact, I wonder if this has not become an experiment in human stupidity, as in how long people can keep watching what has clearly become a sad excuse to make a pile-full of cash, and still feel happy about it.

Please walk gently into the good night
srinikethan26 September 2015
Wow! how could a show which gave us so many laughs fall to this level. When Leonard and Penny get to finally marry, the show turns gut wrenchingly dull. The cheesy science filled vows Leonard delivers just made me facepalm, the situations are no longer funny.

You know Amy suggested a break at the finale last season, but Sheldon moping over her? Seriously? The seemingly great scientific mind ultimately cries over a girl, is this where you wanted to go?

Now that Leonard is settling down with Penny, I was happy we no longer need to hear him whine about Penny and now they have brought Sheldon to that level. Good going folks - run another 8 seasons till ShAmy gets married.

Absolutely no comic relief in this episode, just lot of really awkward scenes. I think it's time for TBBT to go gently into the good night while we still have some good memories.

Reminds me more and more of post Charlie Sheen Two and a half men.
biserangeloff25 September 2015
With this episode and in the last couple of seasons, Big Bang theory clearly walks at Two and a half men path. The writers and the producers is lazily milking money from the show's brand, without giving any entertainment value to the audience. And it looks like similar to post Charlie Sheen's Two and a half men, The big bang theory will be pushed until any traces of dignity have left. The characters became more and more two dimensional, the stories are textbook trivial, and there is no fun and laughter anymore. While i watched this episode, did not feel entertained, amused, and there was to traces of comedy. The only thing i felt was disappointment and realization, that Two and a half men was not a coincidence, but a model. A model of brand milking and a absolute lack of creativity in TV entertainment industry.

Worst Episode Ever
bldswttears-222 September 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I have to say, after watching EVERY episode of Big Bang Theory, I've never sat through a show and NOT laughed. And that is a FIRST for me.

The trailers for the show were bad enough, basically spoiling the wedding in Las Vegas, and OBVIOUSLY going through with it.

What's worse is now the writers want to add another lady cast member to the mix, as if it hasn't gotten congested enough. Ooh a kiss! Oh my god, might as well get a divorce right now! What year is it, 1960? At least Leonard was straightforward with it.

I agree, it was about time that Sheldon and Amy broke up, but it was way too blatant and got really weird all of the sudden.

And way to go making Stewart more of a lady's man than he's ever been on the show...

I feel the writers got really lazy writing this episode up, and if this goes on the same way for the rest of the season, get ready to cancel this show half way through...

Good luck on a 10th season, guys. You're gonna need it.

it is suffocating..
bmmutlu27 September 2015
unfortunately, my all times favorite comedy TV series had lost a big time momentum. it is not smart funny anymore.. it is not authentic and original.. i am missing the first 5 seasons.. new comers are killing the magic and spirit even though they perform well.. something happened to writers. their performance is terribly down. producers shall check what's going there. are writers protesting something? are they unhappy with their income maybe? they just gave up writing smart scripts. Big Bang Theory was able to make us laugh by bravely going in and out the most real and sensitive subject of the life around the main cast.. sometimes I am just opening one of old episodes and watching and still laughing like first time. So there is something wrong.. there is something changed. Hello! is there anybody out there hearing fans voices? please save my beloved TV series.. it is suffocating and gonna die soon..

Really another fighting season!?
paulaxelkonst22 September 2015
This is so bad! come on i thought they had some new ideas but no. Sheldon breaking up with Amy no big surprise there. Blondie and geeky fight on their own wedding no surprise there. Howard and Bernadette getting a divorce wouldn't surprise me now. Please just make everyone happy. We don't care about this stupid fights they have in every episode.

I know what gonna happened next episode, Sheldon going to say he hates Amy but everyone knows he wants her back. They gonna have a talk in the episode and maybe 1-3 episodes they are going to get engaged,

Leonard and penny going to get a divorce. Bernadette wouldn't surprise if she is getting pregnant and Howard going to freak out. this show is so boring and predictable. I want small " problems" not even problems just funny stories absurd situations. Not couples fights. Come on you can do better then this this episode SUUUCKED!!

My worst fears are confirmed, the show is going downhill
peterhill-8490028 September 2015
Last season's finale was a blunder - but I took it as a little error. After all, no TV show is perfect and so I remained excited for the return TBBT. However upon watching the first episode of the new season, I am still instilled with fear that the show is becoming more of a soap opera than a light hearted comedy. I have nothing to say about this other than it is tripe. I miss the golden days when they went on adventures (such as to the Skywalker Ranch) and did interesting things. We don't need relationship dramas! However promising episodes are on the horizon, I will think about them and ignore this trash of an episode.

Why is Amy still there?
GeraltTargaryen23 September 2022
Admittedly, I didn't like last season's finale. But now they had such a great opportunity to get rid of Amy, reset Sheldon back to the unemotional robot that he was, and start anew. And they couldn't take it. Amy Farrah Fowler is the most hateful TV character I've ever seen in my entire life. Sometimes there are nasty characters that we love to hate (many in Game of Thrones, for example), but this is a sitcom! It's supposed to make the audience laugh, and leave them happier human beings after they've watched an episode. But right now, BBT is failing that spectacularly.

As for Leonard and Penny? I simply don't care any more. It's just Ross & Rachel all over again. Nothing new under the sun.

By far the worst episode ever of The Big Bang Theory
magicastor10 October 2021
This is not only the worst episode of Season 9 but also of the entire series. This episode is an absolute mess.

Leonard and Penny were about to get married but NO Leonard told Penny he once cheated on her. Their wedding vowels were nice and sweet but that gets totally thrown out the window after they get back home.

To make matters worse Amy had broken up with Sheldon after 5 years of thier relationship moving at a snail's pace. Sheldon is an absolute simp is this episode. Amy clearly stated that she needs a brake from him and needs time to think but Sheldon just won't accept her decision pushing her around.

This episode is so awful I almost wanted to give it a 1 but I settle for 4.

The Amy character is just too dumb
igraba23 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
So you meet a guy with, what we all feel is Asperger's, and then you just don't seem to understand his quirky personality?! How does this work?! Date a guy and then TRY TO CHANGE HIM, although he's probably the last person on earth that has the ability to change!!! How ridiculous is that? Then view yourself as a victim, and the guy with Asperger's is the aggressor, and try to have a real relationship? That's like buying a zebra, taking it to the race track and expecting it to behave like an Arabian stallion. Not gonna happen sister. So the message from this episode is: pick a partner and then try to change them into something that you desire even if impossible. Dumb stuff.

What a let down
emilyannegriffin16 April 2023
Warning: Spoilers
After 9 seasons of dragging on the will they/won't they with Leonard and Penny, we get a disappointing and drama filled wedding. They basic premise the whole show was building towards was demolished in one fell swoop. What should have been a heartfelt and entertaining episode, turned out to be one of the weakest of the series. There's no humor or magic as the group starts to splinter off, undermining the core spirit of the show. The drama with Amy and Sheldon was distracting and discouraging. I kept waiting for the episode to redeem itself, but never did. Leonard, Penny, and the fans deserved better!

Pull the plug now
mbntz-0467030 September 2015
this show has jumped the shark, and has over stayed its welcome. it has survived and thrived past Community, a show that is superior in so many ways, but regardless, they couldn't get to a sixth season without problems. tbbt had everything handed to it on a silver platter, and it has lost any and all spark that it once may have had, and everyday that this show is still on the air, it boils my blood, I hate this show with a fiery passion, I hope they don't get to a tenth season, they're not Friends, that was a great show, this is a pile of horse radish. I want to see a show like Modern Family get to a twelfth season, or further, because what makes or breaks a show are; the writing, the acting, the chemistry, the comedy, the drama and the characters. Modern Family exceeds at all these traits exceptionally, tbbt doesn't, not by a long shot. the writing is abysmal and lazy, the characters are boring and one dimensional, even Sheldon now, unfortunately, and the acting is so awful, it feels like I'm watching a dime version of Days of our Lives or All my Children, except somehow, more ridiculous.

A big Bronx cheer.....!!!!!!
wkozak2216 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
This is my opinion, it has spoilers. This episode would have been great if it focused on Leonard and Penny. I really don't like Amy and Sheldon. They are extremely annoying and extremely egocentric. Also, Penny's dress is ugly!

Yes It Was Awful
Hitchcoc8 November 2021
I've been defending the show for a while, but this episode scrapes the bottom. So they finally get married. Leonard makes a confession that he kissed someone and now everything is down the chute. But the do tie the knot. The downer here is that Sheldon and Amy are on screen at all. The Las Vegas stuff was fine, but it just disintegrates.
