One of Digital Playground's better feature releases of late, "Empty Nesters" is styled as a prime-time TV Rom-Com, signaled by insipid music track that would be right at home with any '80s era mainstream counterpart. Its craftsmanship, as compared to the usually slipshod work of anonymous helmers of DP Chatsworth-made product, is due to filmmaker Francois Clousot in charge, after over a decade of being No. 1 cameraman for Wicked Pictures.
Bridgette B. plays with a flourish the new wife of Tommy Gunn, and both bring adult children into the picture, setting up the various incest scenes in XXX. The kids are going off to college, just a couple of hours drive away, so frequent visits back and forth make the bed-hopping plausible.
Plot and characterizations are given a back seat in favor of situation comedy and romance, with star BB very impressive both in her acting skills and well-known sex appeal. In a freer world it would not be beyond the realm of comprehension to see her fronting a mainstream show of this sort (minus explicit sex) in the manner of Sofia Vergara.
Gunn is enthusiastic as the put-open daddy, though a bit too broad in his playing, while as the son destined for incest with stepmom Lucas Frost remains one of the most wooden performers among the new breed of cocks thrown into nearly every Chatsworth feature.
Jillian Janson plays younger than usual as a daughter, while Chloe Couture, using her new stage name Chloe Cherry, is effective in an extraneous sex scene as a cheerleader (costume only, no cheers provided). It was nice to see Missy Martinez thrown in the mix as a marriage counselor/therapist, who gets Sapphic Sex on the couch with BB.
Surprise ending tops off this entertaining trifle, again proving the merits of the Auteur Theory even applied to porn, as Clousot's work is clearly so much better than the usual Stateside DP hacks like Robby D., Jakodema, Vic Lagina, etc. Similarly Dick Bush, and now his partner Danny D, run rings around the Chatsworth crowd with their frequent Brit Porn features for the label.
